I don’t know who at 343 hasn’t realized this, but please: if you’re going to shove emblems and XP Boosts that no one wants into a Battle Pass, make them share a level slot with an actual piece of armor. This isn’t rocket science, just stop doing the thing that’s upset most people since launch.
They need to do the same with shoulders.
Likewise chest and armor attachments need to be a thing instead of being a whole armorpiece.
It’s a false economy for sure.
But you have a bunch of stuff that you are going to give away. And a total cost (XP) that they put on it.
It doesn’t really matter whether you get from point A to B in 30 steps or 15. Whether the steps are 1000XP or 2000XP. Whether they add filler bits or not.
Once you’ve paid the cost you have the items.
So, really, we’re only getting part of a battle pass. A few of the things that they need to do include but are not limited too:
- Replace all Emblems/XP Boosts/Challenge Swaps with Armor/Coatings/Visors
- Combine Shoulder Pieces into one tier.
- Actually add in every Reach Armor Piece into this BP. The lack of JFO Helmet is just one example.
- Do not put any Reach related content in the store.
- And most important, stop with the false advertising BS.

Unfortunately, we still have the problem of 343 subs making the claim that this content is “Free” and there for we shouldn’t be complaining about any of this stuff. It’s that anti-consumer attitude that’s especially frustrating.
Somewhat unrealistic.
They have 15 or so actual pieces allocated to this event.
You could do 15 levels at the usual XP - but that would be a very short event and not fit the purpose of trying to engage with the players.
Which leaves 15 levels at double the XP, or 30 levels at the usual XP, but with some filler content.
I’d take option 2.
You can either split them into two or add in an extra piece of filler. You still end up getting both of them at the same time.
It’s a four month season. Let’s not smash it out in one day.
Why?
They have to generate revenue.
And every time I open the game my credits just sit there… staring, and whispering… “spend me”.
It’s advertised as a “free” event. They have clearly stated how it’s accessed. And they’ve stepped through every level in a video chat.
I know 343 haven’t been overly honest in a few areas… but I’m a bit confused about which part of this BP is stretching the truth.
I completely agree. It would be understandable if the tiers were Halo Credits, but boosts/swaps should not be considered standalone level-worthy.
Anyone remembers the Weapon and Vehicle “Certifications” from Halo 5? A drop to get a drop. Genius
Honestly the problem is that they didn’t know how to operate an actual Live service. With Halo Infinite. So much of these game really displays how rushed and not fully thought out many aspects of it are.
It really feels like a last minute assignment your trying to complete and you end up missing a lot of default common sense stuff.
Like right now in the COD discord they are roasting this game hard.
Like we’re are over there in COD with Match XP, two seperate progression systems once battlepass drop, the prestige system is coming soon.
We can mute players through the scoreboard, we can already report players in game
Overall the basic stuff you expect from a game, meanwhile Halo Infinite is stuck struggling to add these in.
Personally I would prefer it if the progression was linked to the armour core and not the battle pass.
You could have bought cores and cores earned in game. But each core would have its own XP progression tree. Depending on lore or where you got the core you could progress by competing in that activity.
So if the core was acquired in campaign. Campaign XP would progress that core to getting more accessories.
If I got to diamond in ranked PvP I could progress that core in Ranked MP games.
The same could be done with social games, firefight, custom games,
There would be so much progression to participate in and collect… plus there would be more variety.
Rather than us all doing the same battle pass and wearing the same stuff.
Given how many pieces could have been fit into the Boost/Swap slots in the first two passes alone, this one feels more like a patch to two bad passes than an acceptable free one. They could have launched the game this holiday, giving us 100 tiers of armour with no filler and people would have been happier, but we’ve been waiting a year now, paid at least $20 on top of the standard $70 for the game, and NOW I get to earn CQB pieces. The reasons don’t matter anymore, it’s less content than any Halo before for more money.
