I understand that 343 need to make money off of the F2P model, but for the emblems they could have at least allowed us to select the colors we want, not lock us into using pre-existing coatings in the hope that the one I want is there. If the emblem has 2 color channels and there are 16 colors, that gives me 2^16 possible permutations, at the moment I have a grand total of 5 to pick from which sort of negates the whole player expression goal.
Its disappointing enough that we can’t actually customize the backdrop and emblems like in MCC, but to even strip away color customization seems excessive. Not to mention the astronomical prices of the store items.
The lack of customization extends to armor as well, its just disappointing to see.
The coating system as a whole is just fundamentally awful because it prevents player customization instead of encouraging it.

At least let me pay 10$ for a color editing tool so that I can edit all my armor and emblem colors.
Dont get me wrong, that would still be an awful system (having to pay for colors in general is laughable) but at least I would be able to mish and mash colors however I want, then again that eliminates one of the things they can sell so they definitely wont do that.
The lack of customization in general is horrid. I’ll just go back to the MCC if it is going to be like this for more than a month past launch.

I am severely dissapointed with the new emblem system. One of the first things I did upon turning on the game (after struggling to set my controls to something manageable) was the player customization. It makes me so sad that I can’t have the emblem I’ve been using for years now, or anything even remotely like it. I was expecting an advancement in emblem customization, but instead we just got a severe regression with a nice art style.
Who’s expression is this actually supposed to be for? The development artist, or the player?

Emblem customization needs to be at MINIMUM, on par with MCC.

yeah i’ve had the ace of spades with a black circle around it and a white background since like 2004 mate it kinda pissed me off
