Emblem Creation

Over the years everyone has gotten accustomed to using the Emblems given to us but it seems like its about time for us to be able to create our own from the ground up. Most games have adapted to letting user created emblems be used in games to give a sense of customization and by now that’s something that every player wants.

Actually Bungie held a competition a while back for user-created emblems to be implemented.

You see that with user created ones as seen in COD black ops and black ops 2, user created emblems are a horrible idea just because of the mentality of people and the lack of brain power to actually make an emblem that is appropriate for a community setting.

The way Bungie did it, they screened all entries before they made into the game. A similar contest would be quite interesting.

I mean, have you seen what people make with the predefined stuff we’re given? No way can the community as a whole be responsible enough to be trusted with an emblem maker. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a good idea. As others have said, people will take advantage of an emblem-creating system and create some pretty messed up stuff, whether they be hate messages or sexual pictures. While I have seen some really cool things come out of the system, the amount of messed up stuff that can be created is too much.

I want a verification system so we can get this kind of content, then I can have a custom emblem and kinect captured endgame animation.

Max, the OP is talking about a system where users could make an emblem using an in-game emblem editing program and use it on the fly. CODBO had a system like this, and some of the results were nothing less than disgusting. They had to implement a report system so that they could take the time to moderate in-game emblems better. It was a disaster. I really hope Halo keeps an in-game emblem editor out of Halo lol. Hell, remember all the players in H2 that turned the grenade emblem into a -Yoink!-? Lol

It would be very cool if 343i had a contest like Bungie did though. I remember the one you’re talking about.

I don’t need to make my own emblem. I’ve seen some of the CoD garbage that ends up on people’s arms. What I wish is that 343 would bring back all the emblems from past games including ODST. The H4 emblem library has only a few decent carry-overs and a lot of original emblems which are mostly terrible. I want H2 “Librarian” back and I want ODST’s “Keep It Clean” and “Optican.” Oh, and obviously I want the “0” back from H2/3.

you guys do make a really good point some of the stuff that the players on COD come up with is childish and unnecessary, but a part of me trusts the Halo community haha

the inner hardcore community yes… but this is a game that anyone can buy… don’t be so quick to trust the rest of humanity. some people just want to see the world burn!

I think that we should have a -Yoink- load of emblems by default. But that there should be some special ones that can be unlocked through achievements, commendations or daily/weekly challenges.

Have you seen what people have done with the emblem editor in GTA V? Because I do, and there are a lot of sexual things out there.

I like the emblem system we’ve got currently. A creator would open the doors to all kinds of inappropriate things. To compensate, we should be able to decide the size and position of the emblem on our Spartan.

Unless 5 will be the first T-rated Halo game, this game is rated Mature…meaning material within is “appropriate” only for adults. Problem solved.

Stupid idea. The amount of -Yoink!- emblems and breast emblems in Blops 1&2 was ridiculous and it isn’t even funny with no comedic value to it. Teenagers can not be trusted. Halo 2 & 3 have it right, its fine as it is.

I see, my mistake. Well, in that case, I amend my previous statement to the OP. An in-game editor would be a horrible idea because of the profane and childish abuse that would come with it. Also, the fact that no one would be able to moderate every single unique emblem…bad idea.

I like the current system.

^This right here.
The emblems 343 came up with in H4 just didn’t seem to fit with the emblems we’ve always had. I appreciate them adding more and even trying to update the style of the emblems, but with all the changes the franchise is experiencing I think this is a good opportunity to keep something completely classic (especially something as inconsequential to gameplay as player emblems).
Personally, I say remove the emblems introduced in Halo 4, but give us ALL emblems from previous games including ODST (a lot of S-IV’s are ex-ODST, after all).

And for the love of Sagan, NO UNLOCKING EMBLEMS. All emblems need to be available from the start.

NSFW emblems? If given the freedom that can happen. It is an M rated game though…
