I’m not fully sure if this is the correct forum section, but I’ll post here anyway. My GT is CrippleGod but it is banned from Waypoint due to posting in incorrect forums, so I am posting from my father’s account. I am posting it here just in case the email doesn’t go through, in hopes of reaching someone at 343i. Think of my email as you will, but criticism for my support of 343i will be ignored. My email was as follows.
To whom it may concern,
I hope I am somehow reaching the team of 343 Industries, or someone who could pass this on to them. If not, please disregard this message.
My name is Regan ****(Gamertag CrippleGod). I’ve been a huge fan of Halo ever since it first released in 2001. At the time, I was four years old, and was introduced to Halo via my cousin Brandon, who I still play with whenever we see each other. I fell in love with Halo the moment I played. It wasn’t my first video game but after playing it, it would always be my favorite. Of course, at four years old I had no idea what the hell I was doing, but regardless I loved it.
I was born May 4, 1997 in North Carolina. At around 8 months, my parents noticed something wasn’t right. I wasn’t crawling right; instead of using my legs I only used my arms in a sort of “combat crawl.” After a long array of tests, and weeks of fear, my parent’s were informed I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or SMA for short. I won’t go into details, but SMA has four types, type I being the worst, and IV the easiest. About 95% of children with SMA type I die before their second birthday. I genetically have type I, but doctors almost consider me a hybrid between I and II. I cannot walk, and am severely physically handicapped.
Two of the few things I can do physically is use a keyboard, and an Xbox controller. Of course, this is where Halo comes into play. I’m not the best Halo player in the world, but honestly I’m not too shabby. I play it for fun, but I also am very competitive. My matchmaking experiences in Halo have taught me to never give up. Even when teams may be down, I always push for a win. This has carried over to my real life and dealing with my medical conditions. I also find Chief’s history impactful on my day to day life. No matter the situation or odds, no matter if the Covenant was an unstoppable force, or the threat of the Flood destroying everything in the galaxy, John never gave up. I try to hold this dear to me, and remind myself to never give up, and be a hero, if even to myself.
My main reason for emailing you is not to give my life story, but rather to thank you. Even though Halo was originally created by Bungie, you took a franchise very dear to me, and continued it. Not only did you continue it, but you made it better. Halo 4 was my favorite Halo to date. I am a big fan of the idea of fleshing out John’s character, and making him more human. I have been eagerly following Halo 5: Guardians and am anxiously waiting for its release. I have already pre-ordered the Limited Collectors Edition, and will be pre-order the Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One console upon announcement. I pre-ordered Halo: The Master Chief Collection and have enjoyed every minute of it, even through bugs which the team has been relentless to fix.
I am forever a Halo fan, and want to forever thank you for taking this wonderful franchise to new bounds. I cannot express my excitement for Halo 5: Guardians. I check for news and updates, forums, etc every day for news or theories of the upcoming game. The team at 343 Industries has done an incredible job, and there is no team more fit to handle Halo. Much love to all team members working on Halo. Thank you all very, very much.
Regan ****
