I am thinking about buying the Elite Xbox Controller but $135 is a lot of money for me. Has anyone upgraded to an Elite controller and seen a significant improvement in your halo play?
Yes absolutely. If you can afford it I recommend it 100%. It feels so much better and natural with the paddles.
I find it worth it, The paddles help a lot if you are on Halo 4 controls as I made my X and B on the paddles and my left and right D-pad paddles also.
Great controller, but my right bumper started to fail after a year of regular use, no abuse.

That sucks, I almost had mine for 8 months and I had maybe like a week or two worth gaming on that thing.
It’s a really nice controller, but if you’re trying to pinch pennies I don’t think it’ll significantly raise your gaming level. If you have some slush cash, it’s definitely fun and useful.
If you have some extra cash go for it. You will laugh as helpless victims flee in terror from their inevitable slaughter.
It is a big price for sure. I have been very happy with it. I have herd a few people had the same issue as MATADOR Inc had!

From what I know, the Elite controller is worth every single penny. The additional underside paddles really can be a decisive advantage in fast-paced games.
My only concern is the build quality - they tend to brake down at one point or another.
I personally didn’t find my one very useful. Sure, it was very (very) comfy to hold and I liked the extra paddles, and hair triggers and buttons. But it didn’t seem worthwhile to spend money on. It’s not something I’d suggest getting unless you regularly game and have the money sitting spare.
