Elite Controller owners..

To the folks out there who own an elite controller… How big

How big of an improvement are the bumpers? I’ve heard they are better. The regular bumpers on the wireless controller have had a lot of negative pub regarding them… Understandably so. I heard they no longer go off of a hindge… I apologize for the double post here. Forum newbie also >.< Thanks much

the bumpers are so much better on elite controller. The way they sound are awsome.

It turned the game around for me. I had a difficult time adjusting to the new H5 mechanics for the first 2 months… (dead zones weren’t helping). The Elite controller allowed me to map the entire layout to my liking. Took a while to get used to and to flush out what felt right for me, but once I got the hang of it my K/D improved almost a whole point. With the additional bumpers your thumbs never need to leave the sticks.

I like what you have to say . That was honestly my biggest gripe. Good to know. Yeah the standard bumpers sound so clanky… I’m hoping they are more like the 360s bumpers… My local GameStop actually has a few in stock but said that they aren’t allowed to let someone get a feel for it… I wanted to get a lil hands on before a rather pricey purchase yanno? And are the bumpers and triggers steel or just an aluminum plastic finish? It’s really tough justifying a rather pricey purchase when I’ve yet to even lay a hand on the thing… Maybe Best Buy would have a test model… Thanks again

Yeah I’ve heard the customizable aspect’s are incredible. A whole kd point? Woahh… I don’t doubt it. Worth the price tag all in all? I’ve heard absolutely by 95% of owners I feel like

The elite controller with it’s ‘‘paddles’’ is hard to use in the begining because of the new paddles but if you map it right and take your time to get to lerna how to use the paddles it kan improve your gaming

i would say it’s worth the price

Imo, the bumpers on the elite controller are no different than the bumpers on the new regular contollers.

The bumpers on the original Xbox one controller (no headphone jack on the bottom) were horrible.

I do love the grip on the Xbox elite, and love the paddles. The paddles take a while to get used to. But they are awesome when you get the hang of it.

Love the grip on the Lunar White contoller as well, it’s a happy medium for me, but I always use my Elite controller.

The Elite is the only thing I use since I got it. It does take a little bit to adjust, but once you do, you wont go back to the standard controller. The only problem I have with it is that I cant use all 4 paddles attached at the same time. I tried to the first couple of days that I had it, but with the way I hold the controller it made my hands hurt too much to justify using the 2 lower paddles. I normally wrap my ring and pinky fingers around the controller, but since the lower paddles rest underneath your ring fingers, I had to put too much pressure on the sides of the controller to keep it in my hand. So ive only been running with the 2 upper paddles attached, which rest under you middle fingers.

I’ve heard good things but I haven’t had my hands on one yet.

I bought one a couple of days ago…at first it feels completely alien but after a couple of days gaming, you do start to get the hang of things.

Aesthetically its a lot more pleasing to look at at and feels much better in your hand due to the textures and materials used.

Previously had the original Xbox One pad without the 3.5mm stereo port and to be honest I don’t notice much difference with the top bumpers as I kind of nudge them with the middle part of my trigger fingers anyway rather than pressing.

The biggest improvement I have found is with the hair triggers…you save fractions of a second with each shot and even if you’re not used to the pad yet, you will feel and see the difference in your gameplay. I wouldn’t say you’re KD will improve by a whole point due to the Elite pad (that is an extreme and more likely due to being more familiar with the game or change in style of play) as its not a game changer, but it will give you the ability to do more things at once. For example: I use fishstick layout so it was impossible for me to aim, crouch and jump at the same time…I have now switched jump and crouch to the paddles so can now crouch and jump whilst aiming, perform crouch jumps, and doing the sprint, slide, jump, thrust combo is really smooth.

The biggest part is getting used to the new button assignments with the paddles. After testing out many configurations, I opted to go for just 2 paddles on the right as I found having paddles on the left compromised my grip, which subsequently affected my aim, and also gave me cramp in my hand…the last thing you want when you’re gaming is for your pad to feel uncomfortable (or in pain!).

I would suggest testing out what is comfortable for yourself rather than what other ppl tell you and don’t feel the need to use all the paddles if you don’t need to (ie there is little benefit to switching out reload and weapon swap to the paddles as these are animated actions that you either wouldn’t necessarily perform in a gun fight or wont save you any time if you take your finger off right stick due to the animation).

edit: a few extra tips…

  1. dont forget to set turn your hair triggers on and set the trigger ranges to 0-50 (this enables charging of weapons such as the plasma pistol and arclight).
  2. if you swap out buttons to the paddles, then I would advise unassigning the original buttons so they don’t perform any actions…this has helped me learn to use the paddles quicker rather than pressing buttons from muscle memory (ie forces your muscle memory to relearn).
  3. the paddles are quite sensitive and can perform actions when you set the pad down, however you have the option for a couple of setups via the switch on the front of the pad…I personally use one as a “normal” setting to navigate menus out of game, and a “gaming” set up with my paddles activated for playing (alternatively a double click of the sync button deactivates/activates the paddles but this isn’t very useful if you have vibration turned off or have the original buttons unassigned).

Are the elite controllers bigger than the original? Or can someone recommend one? I have long hands so i cant comfortably palm a controller as i have to revert to somewhat of a claw method.

The Elite is the same size as the standard Xbox One pads.

Elite controllers are awesome, I got one close to when they first came out and the control looks amazing.
However, a few points:

  • If you are a tight controller holder, a lot of adjustment will be required. I started by using all 4 paddles, but realized my aim and skill decreased substantially. To remedy this, I took off all my paddles and inserted one at a time and played for a few weeks til I got use to it. Currently I can use two instinctively and will be adding my third one (I added the left paddles right) soon. - Paddles are very sensitive, you dont need to fully press them. - Interchangeable pieces can help. But for most people you will just use the regular one. - Heavier controller can feel much better than a light controller. - New d-pad is amazing for fighting games. - Comes with a long wire for use if you dont have rechargeable batteries or packs.

Bought one relatively recently and I love it. It took several hours to relearn my grip, and I had to experiment with the paddle setup to get something I found comfortable, but now I can’t imagine playing it any other way.

My only gripe about it, and thankfully it’s fixable, is that it’s quite weighty. The solution to that problem is to just not play with batteries and play hardwired into the Xbox and let the Xbox power the controller. Takes out the slight WiFi delay as well.

Personally I didn’t mind the old bumpers that were harder to press, because I play with one finger on the trigger and another on the bumper, but if you didn’t like the old ones you’ll probably prefer the Elite controller ones. They’re much easier to press and have a much more satisfying click to them. Took me a bit of getting used to, as I was pressing them by accident a lot at first.

The paddles are hard to get used to, but definitely worth persevering with. I discovered that I was tensing up during difficult one on one encounters and pressing the paddles a lot by accident. I’ve mostly got out of that habit now, which is generally a good thing anyway.

One of the things I did was flip my two long paddles and have them facing upward on the top two slots and have the short paddles on the bottom. It significantly helped reduced accidental paddle presses.

Do these controllers accept the XB1 Play & Charge Kit?

The entire controller is just well done. Overall design and durability, customizable paddles, bumpers, et al…all good. It does take a bit of time to get used to, but when you rework your muscle memory (and feedback difference between origianl and Elite), it’s awesome.

I love it…the bumpers are fabulous its real beefy
