Elite controller help

Can’t find this topic anywhere… Can someone please help me with a good mapping scheme on the elite controller? I’ve messed around with a few things but can’t seem to find anything very good. I know anything will take some getting used to but I’m all over the place at the moment with settings.

Thanks,

It’s going to take a while to get the muscle memory there - what I did to make progress was to remove 2 of the bottom switches, and use the remaining 2 for jump and thrust. I am slowly getting that part together. I just know it’s going to take some time

Something like that?

I would recommend taking off all but 1 paddle (and prob map that 1 paddle to “jump”), then do a little campaign to get the feel for it then play pvp. It’ll prob take at least 10 games for you to start to get used to it, and you’ll still find yourself forgetting and reverting back to the old button. But after you change your muscle memory add another paddle, but for halo 2 paddles will prob be the max used without getting in the way.

As far as button mapping, custom sensitivity, hair triggers, etc. you’ll just have to experiment for what “feels” best for you. I just think small incremental changes is better than changing everything at once; I know b/c I was excited to try it all and felt like I had never played a fps before - took a step back, removed all paddles and am taking it slow. MUCH better idea, lol.

Fantastic, thank you for the advice. Are people finding it better to put jump on a specific side of the paddles? Likewise are people finding it better to put thrust on the opposite side

Personally I think jump should be on the right paddle, since A button is where I had jump and its on that side of the controller. But I am still not used to the paddle, I’m sure some will be able to adapt quickly but I have to retrain my brain after 14 yrs of essentially using the same controller scheme.

I used bumper jumper in past halo titles, so I currently have one paddle on the left side for jump and considering one on the right for thrust so i can keep my thumbs on the joysticks for gun fights.
