So with the Elephant being added to forge the first thing i did was go and goof off with it.
However the Elephants on Sandbox and Avalanche don’t behave like the ones on Sandtrap. placing an item on an Elephant in Santrap will result in that items spawn node becoming glued to the Elephant. This gluing is permanent and will preset over new rounds.
However while the same gluing happens to the Elephants on Sandbox and Avalanche. the persistence is not. if you start a new round items placed on Elephants will spawn at what I gather is the 0,0,0 axis point of a map.
This video is from the test flight. but considering the same effect appears now I figure it is still relevant.

I suspect the the reason why the glue holds on the elephants on sandtrap is because the elephants spawn before forge objects do. I think what happens is that when a forged item spawns it looks for its anchor point. so because the non forged elephants spawn before forge items do the anchor point exists.
however forged elephants spawn with the forged items. not before. so the same item described above does not find it’s anchor point and thus spawns at what I think is the 0,0,0 cord of a map.
I hope 343 fixes this.forgable elephants loss a lot of purpose if they can’t act as mobile bases.

Has this been addressed yet. I notice this post is 2 months old and I am still having this problem. All the items I placed on an elephant in sandbox spawned in (0,0,0) in custom games.
As of now no it has not been fixed yet. I submitted a ticket for it and I recommend you do too. I doubt it will get prioritized until a big enough fuss is made
