For those who don’t know, when a game goes gold, it means it has been finalized for release and is ready to be put onto disks and sent to store shelves.

One word:

w00t!

Awesome, looking forward to it!

I know this is a noob question to ask, and I’m embarrassed to ask it, but what does it mean that Halo 4 is “going gold”?

Thank you, I am now very embarrassed.

So early? Didn’t Reach became Gold in August and was released in October?

Edit: oh wait…“Weeks” confused me. 8 weeks it’s actually 2 months. =)

> So early? Didn’t Reach became Gold in August and was released in October?

Reach came out in September.

But yeah, the game went gold in August (Reach)

It all depends really, there is no point on them continuing to work on the game when everything they aimed for is done, more time to focus on future DLC and Spartan Ops as such.

If this is true then Halo 4 will be ready to play for 2 months before release???

Not technically, it just means the game will be ready for release but it will still come out on November 6th.

It means we won’t get another Halo 2 again.

happens to the best of us

Well, it is likely to be a relatively tremendous release since it’s a hugely anticipated title. They’ll want to make sure every store will be sufficiently stocked, especially with the number of pre-orders, to handle sales (and pre-order pickups) on release day.

I am sure this is contingent plan, it doesn’t mean that the game will go gold on exactly Setpember 2nd. There is probably a date at which they must have the game finished in order for the discs to be printed, packaged, and shipped for logistical reasons. Eight weeks is probably a general date, I doubt they would reveal the actual date.

Great news!

If only we had a time machine…

That’s what I meant my friend, Must Halo games have gone gold a month before release and 2 months for Halo 4 is a little odd and again if this is true.

8 more weeks of -Yoinking!- about a 4SK BR before it is too late, I guess.

I’ll try and get a video up once the podcast stream ends.

If your screen had a mouth, you would hear me screaming.

We still have to wait even longer until it comes out, though. D:
