Effective Counter to Active Camo Mantis Boarding?

Is there an effective counter to getting Mantis boarded by players using active camo?

When I think counters for boarders I think:

  • Keep eyes on your surroundings - Use Advanced Sensors - Just keep moving. And these points serve me pretty well for most vehicles. But I am finding that almost without acceptation, when I use a Mantis, I am getting boarded by a player using Active Camo. Its also an issue with Scorpions to an extent, but since Scorpions can be easily boarded without Active Camo (or at lest that’s the perception, so most people try just hiding and sneaking up on you without Active Camo.

But the Mantis… hardly anyone seems to try to board this without Active Camo

And thus my question: Is there an effective counter to getting Mantis boarded by players using Active Camo?

Or you can get someone on the enemy team to board you but not actually kill you and therefore deemed unboardable.

My take:
Keep moving, what happens is that you get focus on the one fool, and in that time you are boarded. (it happens to all of us.)
Once boarded stand.still and hopefully a teammate will pick them off, Unfortunately the first reaction, once boarded, for the vehicle driver is to start flailing and gesticulating, makes it tougher for teammates to help.

If I see a ground vehicle from my team I stay within radar range so I can kill boarders when it starts to flash. Most players just want a quick kills, but a little team work and a tank can win you the game.

No.

Never.

Not even with Advanced Sensors.

I saw spliced doing this on his stream a while ago, I don’t know if it is patched or not, so what you do is when you notice the active camo guy on your back wait till he plants the grenade and is hopping off, as he gets over the cockpit of mantis hold the button to get out of the mantis, since the player is over the cockpit what will happen is it will launch you backwards, immediately boost backwards and when the mantis explodes you should be able to get away with almost no damage, again I don’t know if this has been patched but this should help if it isn’t

You got plan a, b, and c, but have you tried plan D? Plan D is just not using it.

The thing is that in Halo 4, the Mantis was fantastic at choke point control. It could only be boarded from the front, and people with the Active Camo armor mod were easy to see if they moved.

Now both of those things have changed. The Mantis can be boarded from all sides, and Active Camo is pretty efficient when moving.

Say you want to keep the Pressure up by blocking the ice caverns in March on Stormbreak, while the Mantis seems like a good idea, the moment someone even sees you, they will call in Active Camo just to come get you. Which would be fine if hit and run tactics worked (ONI and Hannibal withstanding) but standard Mantis function on a suppressing fire type play. Which means its not efficient to just release a volley and relocate – But if you don’t, you will die due to boarding.

They are fun to pilot. Just frustrating to use in comparison to other options.

Yes, I try and protect our heavy vehicles when teammates are using them. Not enough support players like you around I’m afraid.

That was awesome! Although it would be difficult to find someone.

I hope not, because whenever I see a mantis or a tank, it’s like a free kill for me.

/facepalm

There are no Ways 2 get away from Camo Boarders, except from moving all the Time… And even that is not enough… You just have to count on your Teammates… I rescued a Mantis which stood on one of the Armories on Arc several Times with my Binary (2nd One) Today and a Banshee too… Haha, I felt like a Hero, haha… xD

But I have 2 admit, I Camo Boarded a Hannibal Mantis on the same Map too, today. I felt sorry 4 that Guy, but I had to protect my Team, if that’s an Excuse… :'D

I’m there with you.

But I just started unlocking all my Mantis certs in the last couple weeks, and have found myself on the other end of it.

It’s pretty rage inducing

I’m probably one of the guys who kills you.

Probably. I’m the type of people who kill me. And there is no skill in it.

I was hoping there was something I was missing, from the Mantis perspective. But it is looking like there is not.
