Edit: Thank you 343 for fixing this issue! It feels like Halo again. Read on for heated discussion, but I can’t express how excited I am with the way this game feels now.
I’ve spent more than enough time on this game to “get used to it”. It’s not happening. Been playing Halo for years and this is just ridiculous. The hit detection and lowered aim assist are fine, but the deadzones, aim acceleration and sensitivity-drop-on-target are total garbage. (Banging pots and pans) FIX IT PLEASE!

It’s fine for me… just keep practising. You’ll get the hang of it and be kicking -Yoink- in no time

I’m willing to bet the people who aren’t noticing are probably playing on big screen tv’s with low sensitivity. They’re used to input lag so the feeling isn’t as apparent. If you play on a gaming monitor with a higher sensitivity you’ll notice it immediately. Combine that with a longer right thumbstick on the Elite or Scuf controllers and the deadzones become unbearable.
I’m a seasoned FPS player and it’s the most counter-intuitive aiming mechanic I’ve ever come across in a game. Over the years, I’ve played a ton of shooters, but one thing that Halo always had over ALL other games was a rock-solid aiming mechanic. I can roll with all the other changes, but the fact they changed the one thing that made Halo better than all the rest is deeply saddening.
I’m doing fine. Onyx in FFA and diamond in most other playlists. I don’t suck at this game by any means. That’s not the point. It’s a struggle to aim, and that shouldn’t be the case.
I have around 100 hours clocked into this game and I still can’t get a handle on the aim. Some times my reticle feels sluggish other times it feels too fast it’s so inconsistent. I didn’t have any of these issues during the beta.
It has been confirmed MULTIPLE times, by quite a few reputable sources, that the aiming in Halo 5 relies heavily off aim assist, bullet magnetism and aim acceleration. To make matters worse, the weapon tuning on power weapons and starting weapons is barely getting looked at. To make matters abysmal, 343i has stated officially that is has NO plans to fix the aiming and may or may not offer alternatives to those who are suffering. Halo 5 suffers from quite possibly the biggest aiming deadzones and analog stick drift of any game that I have played in my life. By 343i ignoring this issue, you are better off waiting until Reach gets backwards compatibility next month and joining a majority of fans switching to a non-pay2win alternative.
In a way i really like it. It feels so difficult that it seems kind of skillful. And the pistol is one of the best things in the game of Halo 5 in my opinion.
That being said this is the most unusual aiming I have every felt in any console shooter ever, easily. Halo 5 is one of teh wierdest online shooters I’ve ever played mechanically speaking.
Sorry OP I’ll just get 343 to flip the switch for ya, getting things fixed isn’t as easy as you think it is, it takes time to fix it and then making sure it’s in running order so that there isn’t any issues with it. From what I’ve heard December will be when the new aim stuff will be added
I’ve noticed it and I play on a BenQ monitor. At this point I’ve gotten used to it. And they have stated they are working on it. So please stop posting about the aim -.-
This is an issue that not everyone even has. They are trying to fix it. They already said in a update that they are trying to give us more control over our controller settings.
I’m level 49 so I’ve played this game a lot and I can tell you that for some of us it’s not just a matter of getting used to it.
I have 1 controller that goes slow left and another that goes slow right. Every day feels different with either one.
Last night was the worst yet since halo came out. 1 game it would move slow then the next it would b rocket speed and that’s only on 4 sensitivity any lower and u can’t keep up with the strafing.
This should have been top priority for fixing instead of wasting time making new reqs

It is one of their priorities, like I said and what they have said it should be out in the December update

I hear ya. I know it’s not an overnight thing.

I’m on a BENQ as well. I bring it up because it’s frustrating. I know they’ve acknowledged it. I know it’s been posted about a ton. Just venting. I really dig this game. It’s great! I’m not a 343 hater by any means. Doesn’t mean we can’t voice our opinions. Even if it IS getting repetitive.
I’ve stopped playing until they fix it, it feels so horrible and I’m not learning a bad habit. I really can’t believe how badly they messed up the dead zone, what the hell was going through their heads? I know guys lets make the aiming as sloppy and loose as possible that’s what the fans want!
