It’s pretty clear: the majority of Halo players that played Halo 3 and before are grown up and gone. If 343 thinks with business in mind, they have to develop a game that caters to modern players that have short attention spans and a need to feel like a good player with little to no effort (instant gratification). This generation is not the same as Halo 3’s time, so if anyone is wondering what 343 is doing with all the changes, it is not to keep it new and “fresh”, it is to reward new coming players and players that want to feel great at the start, not ones discouraged by a large skill gap. Additions of sprint, ground pound, weapon indicators ect. are not there just for being there, they are to attract new players of this current time with a sense of awe and need for the game. Think, if they advertised a slow paced game like Halo 3 (although far superior in quality), there would be less interest than in the fast-paced action that Halo 5 provides, keeping in time with the short attention spans and brain-numbing thoughts that players desire this generation. (For example the usage of CGI in a film, its not about the story or thought, its the thrill ride to get to the end) .The truth is, Halo will not and cannot turn back to what it was before - the skill gap will always decrease. 343 is not breaking the game, and I am not accusing or defending them. They are simply trying to keep Halo relevant in this new age of blistering pace.
Titanfall tried this too IMO, but can’t break COD population.
I’d agree with you, but nah.
Some of the top grossing movies ever have extremely well thought out stories. Movies that have released recently, like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes have loads of CGI in it but also have a rich story engraved within them. You act like there can’t be a middle ground between them, which there can be. If I were to guess the reason things such as Weapon indicators are in the game is to assist in new comers to understand how to play Halo. There is nothing wrong in wanting to teach your consumers how to play your game.
As for sprint and ground pound, those are your own biased prenotions. The one thing I would agree with you about is how mind numbing media can become. However just because a game goes through a set of changes (that you personally don’t like) doesn’t mean it’s becoming part of that “Mind numbing crowd”. 343i has listened to both fans coming from the original trilogy and those who started with Halo Reach/4.
They’ve made massive changes,
+Included a (in my opinoin improved) Skill based ranking system
-Ditched Loadouts
-Ditched Ordnance
+Included Equal Starts
+Established Power Weapons
+Encourage Map Control
+Established Base Player Traits
^The last halo that had these features was released 7 years ago. I’d say to count your blessings, but I doubt that would provoke any change. 343i is definitely headed on the right track that Bungie strayed off of in their last Halo game

Look at my service record for Halo 3. And I think Halo 5 plays awesomely.

I appreciate the well-thought out comment!
Although it didn’t seem like it, I am in full support of 343 and I desire the changes (I have TMCC for the old style Halo). I am simply describing the relationship the audience has on the games, not that I dislike the changes. Also, I didn’t intend to bundle all CGI movies as a whole, I am talking more specifically to the solely action-based and heart-pumping ones lacking a sense of direction (looking at you Michael Bay!). Also, you are acting like I think it is wrong for 343 to “teach your consumers how to play”, but I really am emphasizing that they are because of the change in consumer, not that I go against it. And my “biased prenotions” of abilities are, again fueled by observing trends in gaming. Why else would they add abilities? Because they are fun and entertaining for this current consumer time. I am curious to how you see it as you seem to disagree. Again you say I personally do not like the changes when I am just observing them. Do you not agree that games must be based on the crowd? I see games becoming this way because the developers know what the people want, it is obvious that it is speed. I also think that 343 is listening, its just that they are using the comments as assistance for their goals. Lastly, Halo Reach had all of these things, but came in late with the zero bloom update, too late to save it from balance. I believe 343 is on the right track, and I am glad that we can uphold a developed and intelligent conversation on these forums!

Look at mine
I think it plays amazing too , but I am simply explaining the feedback loop of games and how the consumer matters.
My experience with the prebeta is at first I died alot because I was sprinting around. After I stop sprinting I was alot easier .Plus knowing when a power weapon was spawning made it easy too.I could just camp the power weapon spawn and take out people trying to get it.My kills were coming to me that is different then any halo I have played before.H2 A by far is the most skilled I have been getting destroyed playing on that than any halo I have played including halo 2 .Maybe im just rusty though I find myself tring to sprint alot Damn you COD.

Good day sir.
How is it possible for the game to be easy for everybody? If somebody gets a kill it’s necessary for somebody to have died.
After getting to semi-pro I found the game very challenging. It may be easy for you at first because you’ve played Halo for a long time. Try saying that once you’ve reached a higher CSR.
Let’s not forget that Halo 5 has the least aim assist of any Halo game since CE.
On another note, and as somebody around since CE, Halo 2 has the smallest skill gap (gasp). Everybody plays the same. Everybody has the same aiming skill. Everybody knows all the same tricks. Please do not listen to the Halo 2 fanboys, 343. Halo CE is the original Halo. Future Halo games should draw inspiration from Halo CE more than Halo 2.

Halo ce is awesome but for me halo 2 is harder for me and has more skill .I know this because I suck and I admit it but playing halo ce I am way better at it.I mean no disrespect its just my experience but all halo’s 1 2 &3 are the best games ever made.

That is probably because you are playing CE in the MCC which has far greater aim assist.

That maybe true but to be honest I like all 3 games so it doesn’t matter which game 343 pulls from.As long as its not from COD

Agreed. Well as long as it’s not H2A, H2A is the worst Halo game ever made.

I agree that developers should keep an eye on the consumer base’s interests. Doing such partially ensures the success of a product. However, it’s important developers don’t forsake the ground they were founded on when pushing out a project. If they do that they end up forsaking those that had stuck with them since the beginning. Now, granted 343i is a relatively “new” studio. I’m mostly speaking about the Halo IP. Speed is something that will probably change Halo entirely for years to come compared to what it was. However, I don’t feel that it will directly impact Halo’s signature play model to such a degree that it will forsake its older fans in the process of bringing new blood in.

Thats where I disagree I love it haven’t been playing the best at it though.I will say the best experience I have had playing halo since 2009 .So yeah for me its one of the best its halo 2 what do you expect .Im sure if they did a remaster of the complete halo ce multiplayer that would be your favorite. I wish they would contract Certain Affinity for the next 2 yrs to remake all of halo ce multiplayer and halo 2 multiplayer would be a good apology for the failed launch. two remastered multiplayers that would be awesome. I would buy it
H2A would be good, but the aim assist… too easy to 4-shot. Everybody can 4-shot perfectly.

Sir…with all due respect…I don’t want to hear your “here’s why”, I simply want you to provide suggest to 343 on how they can improve whatever you feel they need work in… that’s it. These post are getting out of hand. Everyone wants to say what they feel sucks or is wrong, but no one wants to provide solutions in a helpful way.
