In Halo CE, we all remember Echo 419, Sergeant Johnson, Keyes, Chips Dubbo, Sergeant Stacker, and, of course, Master Chief and Cortana. In Halo 2, while Dubbo and Stacker are technically in-lore there and in the game as voice actors, Keyes got his successor (His Daughter), Johnson went from a “Side Character” (I disagree, he was very much in the spotlight throughout the campaign and the advertisements) to a main character, where is our witty Pelican pilot? Throughout all the main Halo games, I never felt like we got a return of someone who was “That one lucky pelican who never crashed and took you everywhere”, while most of the characters we remember from CE made a comeback. The Arbiter was even the leader of the fleet on Installation 04 (IMO more of a “side-to-main-character transformation” than Johnson) and became a staple of Halo.
So where’s Echo 419 (if not just in spirit)?
If memory serves, Echo 419 was shot down by Banshees while try to pick the Chief up from the Pillar of Autumn before the reactors detonated. So she’s dead, essentially.

I think he’s referring to the fact the 419’s role, the witty pilot, was never returned upon. Every pelican pilot afterwards lacked the character that she had. Maybe in Infinite our new friend could fill that role.

yeah, like I said, “in spirit” because I know she died on Installation 04, if not from her crash then the PoA explosion that tore up the ring.
Hopefully the pilot in the Infinite trailer will be a good character and sticks around, I have a good feeling about him so far.
I would guess that the pilot from the Infinite trailer will be a similar type of character to echo 419 but perhaps just seen in a bit more various situations in addition to that.
But maybe we will see another “personal pilot” type character or we wont, we just have to wait & see.
As others have mentioned, hopefully our pilot friend in Infinite…
In my opinion the closest we got to a 419-like character was Lasky in Halo 4 before he took over as captain.

Echo 419 is the stealthily.
Yeah the pilot from the trailer definitely has the potential to fill the gap.

Palmer in the H4 never felt like a quipy pilot. If anything her role as a commander felt most similar to Keyes. Jared Miller from SpOps is probably the closest to an Echo 419 charter in recent games that I can think of.

It was supposed to be a joke as most people hate palmer lol. Especially since she doesn’t really do anything but insult the chief.
