Easy fix for the free map packs

Instead of microsoft taking the map packs to those who got them free.
(you lucky huge groups of people)
They could easily just add 400 points to the next maps releases.
1200msp.
They then would get back all the money they lost on the crimson pass.and they wouldn’t have to go through a very long process of taking away content rights.
Especially since how all the things are going wrong with the game.
If they were to do this whats to say that us LE and map pass holders wouldnt get the content taken from us as well.
Seems like an easier fix then what I hear they are planning.

Could i get an opinion on this?

That’s incredibly stupid

Or even divide it between the next two maps, to make less of an impact.

Better yet, come out with a fourth map pack, which would be free for Map Pass owners but cost 400MS on its own

Hmmm… no.

What about the people who actually bought it legitimately for 800 MSP they will have to pay more.

pretty much.

you’d have people complaining about “you can’t raise prices just because you made a mistake!!!”

Um, no.

People who got the pack for free were either:

  1. Not going to buy any maps in the first place.
  2. Not going to spend $15 on 3 maps.

MS will keep the map packs at $10 each and the people who got the map pack will get it at $20 total instead of paying $25 for the season pass.

In the end, if these people who got the first pack for free buy the next two map packs at $10 each, then they will have saved $5 but lost out on the two season pass helmets which isn’t much of a loss at all.

Adding the cost on top of another map pack to pay for a mistake they made at the expense of the Halo 4 consumer. Now just how do you explain to someone they have to pay extra to make up for the people who received Crimson for free because Microsoft screwed up. It’s not like the people who got Crimson for free by using the game’s in-menu screen are going to shell out money for the next pack as well. Now you’ve just burdened the legitimate customer to make up for the slack, further angering your consumer base.

i’ve posted in many threads that i don’t support dlc’s unless they are priced correctly. even though i received the free map pack, i’m still not buying the other 2. even if they stayed the same price at 800 ms points.
i just don’t see any logic in spending $10 for 3 maps, i just don’t see it.

Yeah thats true.Seems no one will be happy from this.
I guess we all will just walk away with better hope for halo 5.
I hope they do the fourth map pack idea.I like that idea.(in reply to akg32)

Microsoft should just refund all the people who payed for it. Like come on DLC should be free! I already payed $60+ im starting to feel like an old rag from publishers and developers ringing my wallet dry. Oh but it was a nice snag

i’m sure some users are tire of me saying this, but… valve steam would treat you better and they know how to price games. they have sales all the time and it’s awesome! sadly, this is for pc users only.

That would be REALLY dumb.

Personally, just refund 800 points since it’s only the first one that came out for free. Even then, I’m enjoying the maps more since more people actually have them.

Yes, it sucks the map pack got out for free. However, we get to see them more as a trade-off. I’d rather play them more outside DLC playlists, instead of just seeing them only in DLC playlists.

they just got a free map pack

Your idea is like try to control the fire in kitchen by burning down the whole house. lol ;o

I paid 800 MSP for the Crimson Map Pack.

I’m not paying 1200 MSP for the nest one because some people got this one for free.

What’s wrong with just making the 4th map pack the free one for season pass owners? It seems to make the most sense to me. Sure, you can’t make up losses but it won’t piss anybody off and helps keep the value of the season pass which we paid for.

Most likely, they’ll just do nothing.

The only way this would work is that if they immediately made Crimson widespread free DLC. But it makes the most sense, and it pleases everyone. It won’t happen, but it’s fair.

this idea doesn’t fix anything though. it’s more like a cheap way to justify jacking up the prices to their product.

i think another way to fix the problem would be to change the map names on war games so that everyone who got it for free would have the map but they can’t access the dlc through war games hence having the wrong map file name… and so everyone who should legitimately have the maps can get an updated version of the DLC with the correct file name. it might work as somewhat of a bandaid fix. just my $.02

… My head hurt reading that

Wouldn’t work. Maps can have different variant names and still be played, aslong as the maps themselves are the same. I kinda see what you’re saying but good lord, fix it up a bit.
