Not sure if this is the right sub-forum, sorry if not.
What is the best way to farm up Mongoose kills for the Vehicle Mastery meta? I’m stuck on 1/5 (And even that was a lucky grenade kill that just happened to hit) and while I’m close to finishing a few, like Mantises and Ghosts, I just for the life of me cannot seem to find anyone using them on the BTIS playlist.
Is there a trick to securing more Mongoose kills or is this a common problem? I generally only play BTIS, do other playlists have a greater chance of scoring Mongoose kills and if so, which? Thanks in advance.
With the introduction of Big Team Skirmish I think you are going to have more success. Choose CTF where possible. A good strategy is to grab the Spartan Laser, allow opposing players to pull your flag and while they are trying to do a Mongoose run hopefully you can Laser them.
You have to be willing to accept two players entering your base for a flag pull and then relying on them using a vehicle rather than man cannons or flag running. The other issue is your whole team will likely be trying to stop them as there is a big marker over the flag now. If possible try to Laser the Mongoose rather than the players.
Best map probably Ragnarok or Exile. Best of luck.
If my post on adding rocket mongoose gametypes and scorpion battle gametypes gets enough attention then there may be an easier way in the future! Wouldn’t that be lovely…
At the beginning of the match, put a bunch of shots into your own team’s Mongoose fleet. Make them burn like the brightest stars! This immolation will serve two purposes: firstly the grand flames will attract the attention of your enemies, increasing the odds that they will commandeer the vehicle as they abscond with your flag; and secondly, you will destroy the outbound Mongoose much more easily if you put it on the brink of existence from the start.
I heard one strategy from someone who said they used to intentionally pre-damage a mongoose, and then proceed to drive it into the bottom of the enemy base on ragnarock. Apparently players usually make the silly decision to hijack the driver at which point you would stick them with a plasma grenade. Not sure how well this works as I haven’t tried it but it was interesting enough that I remembered it just in case
I’d say Dominion due to any vehicle that originated from an enemy Vehicle Terminal automatically counts as a “vehicle kill” even if the vehicle was unoccupied.
In other words: If the Mongoose was spawned from an enemy Terminal in Dominion, destroying the Mongoose will count as a vehicle kill. Even if it was unoccupied.

Someone who’s at their xbox confirm this please? Epic if true

It doesn’t sound so epic. It’s only revering to vehicles specifically from a base terminal and not from a spawn by their base (at least that’s what I gathered). Is there even a map with a mongoose terminal for dominion? And would anyone actually use it? I wouldn’t…

ha yeah I realised what he meant shortly after posting ahhhhhhhh well, my 1 mongoose destroy shall remain my only one for the foreseeable (just me or does that word look very odd?) future.

I’m 2/5 for it, I got lucky with the IC and SL. Still, the best way I can see myself ever getting it done is with 343 introducing a way to get it done. Luckily, they’ve done it with almost all the weapons so hopefully they can do it with the vehicles too.
Thanks for all of the suggestions, though I can’t help but wonder if Mongoose kills would be easier to achieve if players could use thier secondary weapons or if a Mongoose would be easier to destroy.
Ah well, guess its time to hunt for CTF game in BTSk. Thanks again.
I found a guy hiding on a mongoose at the edge of a BTB, shot him a couple of times with DMR n he was kind enough to drive off the map (fortunately my aim was awful, it took him like 10 seconds from me shooting him to turn himself around and drive off).
