In Halo 3, we had to work for our armor permutations. We had to find all the skulls, complete all the vidmasters, run over somebody with a mongoose, etc. in order to unlock certain helmets, chests, and shoulders. Then when you saw somebody with say Recon, you would think to yourself, “Hey, he got all the vidmasters. That’s dedication!” Now in Reach, when you see a cool helmet, you don’t think much of it because that person just played the game and saved up enough credits to purchase it. In my opinion, I think Halo 4 should have some sort of achievement or challenge system that allows you to unlock armor by competing said achievement or challenge. What do you think? Which armor earning system is better? Halo 3’s or Halo Reach’s? Thank you and have a nice day.
A little from both would be good.

Agreed.

Yes. Maybe a credit system for minute armor perms such as knee guards, shoulders, and wrists, and a challenge system for helmets, chests, and visor color. Or vice versa.
Personally, I like that armor pieces aren’t a thing used to brag about what you’ve done. Makes it more about if you like what you’re putting on your spartan or not. Most people I knew, when it came down to it, didn’t even really like the look of the Recon helmet, they just liked the fact it’s a show off piece. Like a trophy wife of sorts.

Halo 3’s system
There also needs to be helmet that requires a significant amount of effort to get, like the Recon helmet from Halo 3.

You mean vidmaster 2.0?

It is cool to save up to get armor (Reach) but it is better to have armor for completing task that are a challenge. The armor is worth more that way.
I agree with OP.

It was kinda cool to save up but not really. I felt like I was saving up money, oh thats actually what I was doing. Whoops!
I find that quite boring to be honest, I’d MUCH rather find all the skulls, which they took out finding skulls out of reach completely in order to enhance campaign matchmaking! >:(
They should also give us the H3 Security for going through all the terminals.
Credits should go out, it should be more like “dude, ur awesome. have some armor”

Yep.
This is very old. But you do have to work for it now
