Earnable credits in Season 2

Season 2 we will hopefully be able to earn some in game credits to spend in the store and 343 have a big problem saying one thing then just abandoning what they said. Basically contradicting themselves. So to quote 343

“The Halo Battle Pass will never be taken away from you. And what I mean by that is once you buy it, its yours and it does not EXPIRE! in future seasons you can purchase older Battle passes as well as the current Battle pass and choose which one you put your progression towards”

If I’ve already paid for the 1st BP from what 343 said then the 2nd BP should be available for me since I already opted into the first one and paid €10. If the 2nd BP comes out and 343 want to charge us again then they will be met with a very angery and negative feedback from the community.

So I’ve a lot of questions on what way 343 will have these earnable credits and how will they workout?

Credits can be bought in the store as followed
Ć10,000 = €99.99
Ć5,000 = €49.99
Ć2,000 = €19.99
Ć1,000 = €9.99
Ć500 = €4.99
The most expensive cosmetic ive seen in the store was a bundle for Ć800 and the least amount was Ć400.

First question is will we be able to earn enough credits to purchase a decent amount in the store?

How many credits will you earn throughout the whole BP and will the BP be the only place to earn credits?

Can you only earn credits by opting into the second BP?

Will only certain things be purchasable with in game credits and everything else be only available with real money?

How long will it take to earn credits?

Would you be able to make back the money you spend on the BP and earn back €10 worth of credits being Ć1,000?

Will they lock credits behind challenges or worse the weekly cap stone challenge?

Will there be a limit of how many credits you can hold at a time, for example you can only hold Ć800 and if you don’t spend them you lose out on earning more?

What other F2P games with in game credits that is very well done that 343 can learn from?

Would you have to complete the BP to earn credits?

Can you purchase armor with Credits or will the credits be only available for smaller cosmetics, nameplates, backgrounds, stances etc?

Will credits be earned in a random way like how loot box’s worked or will they be a steady system like the credits in Halo Reach was?

What will be the first thing you save your credits up to buy?

Im not sure about the credits, but I think there will be a NEW battle pass every season. That’s a different battle pass from the first one so I think it’s safe to assume it won’t be available for free.

Like other F2P games, I imagine the Battle Pass 2 will come with premium currency rewards that will be equal to the cost of the next Battle Pass 3. That’s only if the player completes the entire BP2 AND saves all the credit rewards for the entire season to use towards BP3.

I firmly believe 343 is going to disregard the Battle Pass 1 players have already purchased and force players to pay an extra $10 for BP2 to start the premium currency rewards.

I don’t know how much credits 343 will give out, but I can only imagine it is going to be the absolute minimum amount possible since that’s how 343 mainly operates, at the bare minimum.

I could see them locking Credits behind product promotions/challenges/weekly ultimate. Or even only being able to spend those credit rewards on specific things in-store.

All levels of shady business practice SHOULD be expected from any game that is F2P.

I honestly don’t read from 343’s statement that you only pay for one BP and get all of them - rather I read it as BPs being available for purchase even after the season they belong to has completed. I take that from the:

“In future you purchase older battle passes as well as the current battle pass…” ← this implies to me that they are separate purchases.

As for anything else on earnable credits - the only thing official is that it will come with season 2 (in may) and that we’ll get more information on it closer to that date. I think it’s possible that the exact way of how it will work is not yet set in stone.

All that being said: while I don’t agree with everything kkolossal mentions in his post, I’d also be surprised to see them give out noticable more credits than what a BP costs (10 €). So while it will allow you save up for a specific item/set you might want it’s not going to come anywhere near the amount classic boxed releases gave out.

Cheers for the feedback lads, I’m a alud halo veteran and infinite is the 1st BP I’ve ever opted into. Played Apex but never bought anything so I wouldn’t know how most F2P games work. The idea of paying for a game and then putting more money into it seems mad to me. Think I’ve only ever done that for DLC With new maps and story.

So the next BP hopefully will be €10 and after experiencing the first one I’ll have to see if it will be wort wort wort the €10 or not. Hopefully it won’t be full of filler with teirs of Double XP and Challenge swaps.

With everything getting better, The road ahead will be a long one.

The gunplay in infinite is so solid that I really dont see myself dropping the game forever. I’ll definitely come back at some point. The current issues just need to get fixed. And im sure they will in time.

Apologising because all this battle pass stuff is new to me.

But what’s the point of putting credits into the battle pass? Surely it’s simpler just to put more stuff to earn into the battle pass?

And wouldn’t the market dictate, to some extent, that if they start handing out lots of free credits - then the prices in the store generally have to go up? I mean, they have to make money out of the game?

I know a lot of people have been saying that they would be more likely to buy things in the store if they could earn some credits. But this is mostly lip service isn’t it? Everyone is just going to use the free credits aren’t they?

How do other games do this?

If I was designing the store to make money I would put a limit on how many free credits you could use for each purchase (eg. 1/3). But I assume this is not how free credits in this, or any other game, works.

We aren’t for sure if they will put credit rewards into the Battle Pass. We are simply assuming this since it is what a majority of F2P games with a Pass of some sort do. So, how it may work is, they release a Battle Pass players have to pay for and every so often throughout that BP you will unlock Credits. Credits that can be saved to use on the next Battle Pass OR you can spend the credits on other things in the store(but using all of the credits from the Battle Pass on random stuff in the store usually means you will have to pay cash for the next Battle Pass again)

They will undoubtedly adjust some rewards based on how much Credits is given in the Battle Pass, but again, they might use a different way to introduce Credits… like specific Challenges, Events, or maybe they could add them to a Weekly Ultimate reward or something. My best guess is 343 will give 1,000 Credits in the Battle Pass equal to the cost of the BP, but they could make it 1,500, like Fortnite does. That way Battle Pass owners can get the next BP that releases and still have 500 credits to spend on something else in the store.

We aren’t sure how much credits will be given in total, but you can be sure that 343 will not jeopardize the store. They will make sure there aren’t too many free credits given out. Either way, giving free credits will undoubtedly raise traffic in the store and hopefully lower player tensions about the store in general.

This is why we are speculating that Credits will be behind a pay wall. By putting free credits inside the Battle Pass, the sales of BPs will definitely go up.

Many other games(not just Free to Play) give premium currency for being a member of their “Passes.” Of course, you must pay first to be in these Passes to receive the awards inside of them. But usually, the rewards equal the amount players have to pay, and a majority of them offer away to keep buying the Passes in the future as long as you don’t spend the Credits before the next Pass releases.

I can guarantee you 100% that they will mess it up somehow.

Looking at thriving battlepass systems with earnable currency is super complicated stuff… I’ve heard about a game with pirates and ships. There is also another one with people jumping out of an airplane. Crazy stuff.

I already expect it to be unfair and ridiculously hard to earn.

I’ll still return for season 2 but if it’s still that bad then atleast I won’t be surprised this time.

Not spending until they implement cross core because who knows if I find a core I like in the future but WHOOPS I SPENT MY CREDS FOR AN OLDER CORE OH NOESSSS

i think the max you can earn in a battle pass will think between the 200 - 300 credits max.
and that it go’s by 50 credits each time.

As for putting credits in the pass vs. putting more items in the pass. When you put more items in the pass you will still have the problem that people might not want those items but some that are exclusive to the store, which still can’t be earned. If however you put credits in the pass those items will still be available to BP users.

So while perhaps putting more items in the BP would give people more items overall giving them credits instead will “solve” the problem of people complaining that they get “the wrong items” as they have the choice of picking others. I don’t think they will go with a forced split (e.g. 1/3 earned, 2/3 payed) because of this.

Them dropping a new battlepass for purchase every season is hardly a surprise. What they meant by “doesn’t expire” is that the battlepass doesn’t ever become unprogressable at the end of a season.

But as for earnable credits? However they implement it, it better not be stupid.

I hope so too. I’d be happy if I can get my hazop helmet with Credits but like you said 343 will find a stupid way to make something thats suppose to be easy and simple and make it difficult
