I personally think that there should be one last TU for Halo Wars, and that it allows XP to be earned offline in Skirmish mode. Maybe at a -25% multiplier so it isn’t as much as online, but the online community isn’t much anymore and is hard to find a good game usually that isn’t 3v3 and 1v1.
Any thoughts? Just helps getting the achievement easier, but also takes longer.

The population has not declined that much. The population has been fairly steady for the past year or two. People who play Halo Wars love it.
I would love for this to happen, not much attention (if any at all) is going into Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, or Halo Wars which I am not that happy about, because people still do play them and I think more would if 343i did something with them. But as far as going for matches go, if you ever want one you and I can play together along with anyone else who wants in :).
It might kill off the rest of the population. I would really like to see a Halo Wars 2 for the PC. It would be a million times better, and they could really go crazy with the features.

Thats not the point.
Its not supposed to be ‘crazy with features’. It focuses on only a few key aspects of an RTS.
I love Starcraft (Original, BroodWar, and 2). It does offer alot more complexity in all aspects, but there is so much going on that you can not give your full attention to everything.
Halo Wars made a huge simplifactions to the formula by removing some aspects of the game all-together, such as the ‘worker unit’, free building, etc…
This allows players to focus on map control and unit control.
Im not saying Halo Wars wouldnt be great if it adapted a Starcraft-like gameplay, but I just dont want it to. Starcraft already is that, and Halo Wars has its own personality that I dont want to see conform.
Sure Halo Wars could use a few more interesting dynamics to provide more fun and a larger skill gap, but dont make the mistake of equating complexity with fun/skill gap.
I don’t feel that if a small XP gain was added to Halo Wars offline Skirmish mode, it would ruin and kill Halo Wars. It just takes a lot of time and dedication to get to General, and someone who got the game early will have a hard time reaching that rank as opposed to someone who already has it. And if, say the servers go offline, then no one will be able to achieve it.
People who enjoy playing online will still play online, even if this feature is added.
