This is a bumpy ride to EAC support for Linux it seems :^)
oopsie, the thread is sinking again, can’t let 343 miss on such critical information about their game needing a fix…
Maybe but hard to tell these days. Still odd that there’s nothing going on at moment. I suspect they’ll update with support when the next update comes out since believe there working on something else at moment too for MCC. Though I hope they fix the lack of sound when turning off EAC.
Yeah I’m hoping it’ll drop in the next MCC update, they’re working on better Steam integration with Steamworkshop support at the moment, I’m just pissed they issue no communication about that Linux EAC patch, why it’s here, why it’s not working and if they intend to fix it, it’s been months now, issuing a communicate or releasing a quickfix should have been easy to pull afaik but it doesn’t seem to be in their way of doing things, they always drop stuff in big updates even if it doesn’t necessarily require it…
But hey what do I know, maybe their game is a special cookie and making EAC work on Linux for it requires months instead of hours like it took for any other games…
Would be nice if 343 said literally anything about this so we wouldn’t have to waste “valuable” forum space asking for it, wouldn’t it?
Since when did they value the MCC section of the forum?
Still waiting on 343, kinda boring to have no update at all and just being confined to second guessing stuff on the forum…
I really enjoyed getting my steam deck in the mail just to spend a day tinkering to dual boot windows so I could play MCC. Definitely worth my time instead of 343 adding one file /s
They added the file, they are just trying to learn to configure it, now. For some reason they seemed to decide later was the time to work on Steam Deck support rather than working on it before the first units shipped.
Here’s something more official from the developer on my team working on it.
We continue to work with Valve and EAC to enable EAC support on Steam Deck for Master Chief Collection. The addition of the easyanticheat_x64.so file is one of the prerequisites to getting this working, but there are ongoing compatibility issues that our three teams are collectively working to resolve.
I would love to provide more specifics, but the ongoing compatibility issues mean we only have a few pieces to the overall puzzle as everyone’s working through their side.
They have probably been having compatibility issues for quite some time. I wouldn’t categorize this as wholly 343’s fault because if it was as easy as the flip of a switch I doubt both Epic and Valve would be involved in trying to resolve this issue.
Why aren’t they stating in a blog post that they’re working with Valve and Epic to work on the matter instead of this weird radio silence? Does it seem normal to you that we need that some guy who works at 343 posts on Reddit about it to get informed on the matter?
This is a complaint I’ve echoed a few times - I made a topic dedicated to asking the question of why official updates are usually on Twitter/Reddit rather than 343s forums. But it was moved by an admin to the Off-Topic section.
Still no news sadly…
I hear there will be an update for workshop support soon, maybe we’ll get something then?
Correct, the November update should have that once released and Im also hoping for EAC updates.
Yep sadly no news yet. Would be nice since want to do challenges on my Steam Deck.
