EAC support on Linux

With the new update coming along I hope 343 is going to do something about this situation, I’d very much like to enjoy playing MP games and coop with my xbox friends on the SteamDeck…

Adding my voice to this request; please enable EAC for MCC on linux

Infinite is becoming available on Linux as of now and multiplayer is playable, why not MCC then?

Getting the steam deck today. Kinda bummed I can’t play multiplayer because of EAC :frowning:

Please post a picture of the error message you see here. Support is asking to see it, I have a pending ticket with them but dont have a Steam Deck for reference.

There is no error message, you just stay locked on the EAC loading screen…

Even a picture of this would be helpful.

I have unsintalled the game from my Linux partition ever sinc so I can’t help you with that…
Also, 343i are pretty aware of how their game behaves on Linux, they don’t really need any hint especially a useless screenshot of a frozen loading screen…

Their support disagrees.

Im pushing for this, if someone could provide some kind of proof I can add to this ticket.

There is no error message as I previously said, you just get stuck on the EAC loading screen when the game starts, there’s no way a screenshot of a frozen loading screen will be of any help to them nor would a video anyway…

The support people are usually just underpaid dudes with barely any qualification that just follow guidelines as if it were gospel and don’t really try to understand what’s actually wrong, good luck wasting your time with them… if they’re asking you for an error message that’s because the guy looked at the guideline and that it’d probably be the next step to treat your request, he did not really try to understand if it made sense or not…

Just ask them to escalate your ticket to an actual developer if they don’t you are wasting time…

We wouldn’t be wasting our time spamming the forum and the support if 343 gave us an actual stance on the matter, it really is shameful of them to push a broken update for Linux and issue no communication about its purpose and why it doesn’t work…

@343 Enable EAC for Linux. Stop being lazy. Click the button. It’s one click. Do it.

Gonna bump this thread every now and then until 343 gives a firm answer as to what they’re doing with Linux EAC support…

Seeing as Halo Infinite seems to start working on Steam Deck recently for me…I suspect there’s some hope for MCC but not sure.

  1. Go into the EAC settings on the EAC partner site and enable Linux support from the dashboard.
  2. Once that’s done, download the EAC Linux library (easyanticheat_x64.so) for the SDK version integrated with your game, and add it to your depot next to the Windows library (EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll).
  3. Lastly, on the Steamworks site, publish a new build of your game containing the new depot contents. (You don’t have to make any changes to the game executable, just include the new files in the depot contents.)

You guys want to hire me to do this for you?

I will personally pay this users fees  Please 343.

They actually did this back in April, but they never updated their servers to accomodate it so it’s just kinda hanging around not doing anything.

Which is - say it with me - unacceptable.

Yeh I don’t get it either. It’s like I would think playing portable Halo MCC on the go would be cool on the Steam Deck for any gamer or dev so bizarre that it’s been left this long.

Sadly, Halo Infinite working on SteamOS has nothing to do with 343i doing anything to help with it, it’s the result of many community’s efforts…
I just hope that it’ll make 343 feel bad that the wine and proton community is actually more comitted to running their games on Linux than they are and will finally make them take the leap to support EAC on Linux for the MCC…

People have reported part of the issue is that EAC in running as “wine64” for the OS rather than “win64” and apparently EAC servers have no linking to account for that. How? I have no idea.
