Easy Anti-Cheat now supports Linux, it would be awesome if we could see that implemented into the MCC. The steam deck, which ships two months from now, will be running Linux as it’s primary OS. This will allow those who purchase it to take Halo on the go. The single-player portion of MCC already runs, why not let Linux Spartans play the multiplayer on their favorite OS. Thank you for all the hard work 343!
343 want to make communities around games and not platforms. Please enable EAC support for Linux.
There’s already at least one thread? Awesome.
What’s the hold up 343/Microsoft/Splash Damage/Ruffian Games/Saber Interactive/Xbox Game Studios/whoever it is maintaining the PC port of MCC?
Press the button in the EAC control panel that enables Linux/proton support.
Bump?
Can we get a ‘hold on while we evaluate the risks’ or a something as opposed to complete radio silence?
I wish we could. Support closes out tickets without giving support on the issue and they just say to piss off, but nicer.
From what I can tell its been dodged like crazy and a load of folks have taken the stance of “well maybe when the steam deck comes out then 343i will decide to check the box”.
I’m sure 343 is satisfied with letting people believe that too so they dont get much crap for procrastinating.
At this rate I think they are showing their cards and they have no plans on enabling proton even after steam deck launches.

Support were correct to close these tickets, because they’re not bugs or issues. Support tickets shouldn’t be created for feedback or feature requests, the pinned feedback threads are the best place for that. Every post is read, all the info posted there is collated and passed to the relevant teams for consideration in future updates,
I did a +1 on the other thread so i’ll put it here too.
Aside the steam deck becoming a thing soon™ A large amount of people just don’t use Windows anymore. Yes i know the argument of “Oh but only 2%” blahblah but 2% of a billion is still 20 million, so pick your poison when it comes to statistics. Main point is, the only roadblock here is the EAC version needs updating to the latest version that supports Proton, the groundwork has already been done by Valve and the Wine developers to fully support it otherwise - the game runs perfectly fine outside of online play which is simply blocked by EAC.
Bump. I would also really appreciate it if this happened. Or at least some communication from 343 on why it hasn’t yet or won’t happen…
The thing is they need this but they also need to start taking cheating players seriously because I’m sick of it and I can’t even report the dummy accounts because as soon as the accounts get banned then they’ll use another one and I do not understand why I can’t report Steam profile accounts too since the only thing that’ll probably get banned is the xbox live dummy account while the cheater who probably paid for the game get’s no punishment.
I mean yeh I’d look forward to playing on the Steam Deck someday but 343i need to seriously take the cheating seriously. Bad enough that it’s common in Infinite but a fully paid game that needs better anti-cheat support. Also is painfully obvious when there using dummy accounts because they usually have barely any gamerscore and yet somehow their fake rank is pretty high somehow.
As it turns out the requirements for enabling linux EAC was a little more than a button click, but Epic did update it to allow easy drop in. So, it only takes a few minutes to do. And can everyone running on their free OS today.

Just for a reference.
Maybe but 343i need to do something because I’ve had enough. It’s like I’ve just been in a game of cheaters and the report system does nothing to avoid them get stuck in the 2nd game with them doing the exact same thing. They need to add proton support and fix their awful anti-cheat system that clearly does not work.
The other option is just to do away with anti-cheat and let us get points and all on proton, but yeah, having a good anti-cheat system would be better. They could probably use steam anti-cheat, but that may not work for the people who bought the game through the MS store.
Just bumping this, cause this would be so cool to see. If they really do want to ‘build communities around games, not systems’, this would be the way to do it.
Bump.
I want these posts to flood 343 until they at least talk about it.
Hey, so, up Steam Deck is shipping out, is EAC gonna get that update that is much easier now??? Cause you guys could have had it way back when, making sure it worked, but…
Do it 343!!! Do it!!!
I submitted a support ticket asking them to, and got the response “Although we don’t have any information at the moment for plans to enable Linux support for Easy Anti-Cheat, we hear you and we thank you for your feedback”, as I detailed here: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/bad-news-for-steamdeck-linux-users-343-currently-has-no-plans-to-enable-mcc-linux-proton-anti-cheat-support/506550
Just keep making your voices heard, hopefully they’ll eventually listen.
