Should we expect a downgrade of the graphics from that in which we saw in the E3 revel trailer on release? Just got me thinking after Anthem claimed they were to be no downgrades and of course there were (not saying it’s ugly or anything) which removed lighting/fog and particle effects which really help create a believable atmosphere.
Yeah I know, wrong wording my bad. I ask because obviously it being in engine that means that’s what we’ll be getting so i’m hoping it doesn’t get downgraded like a lot of AAA games coming out.
The E3 teaser certainly was not indicative of what the final product will look like for Halo Infinite. We should expect changes to occur; not necessarily downgrades, but definitely changes. I think people are quick to jump on any change as a downgrade, though, so that sort of thinking should also be curtailed.

Yeah i definitely agree with you, I have a feeling they’re still fairly early into development so of course changes will occur and that’s good but the reveal set a standard and while things will be improved and things will get removed I just hope nothings drastically changed like as seen in R6 siege 2014 reveal and its 2018 retail :))
I actually hope its downgraded so they can use that power to make the environments bigger and more open world. The reason halo 4’s campaign is so bland gameplay wise is because they sacrificed environment size, complexity and ai intelligence for pixels. To me the better quality the graphics the worse it looks to me because i know theirs a cost.

I don’t think the visual quality will effect how big the worlds are so I believe we will still get a beautiful game with big open worlds like CE and some more hopefully. With a new engine, years of development and the fast increase in what game engines can now push out I don’t believe they will need to sacrifice the graphics to keep the environments wide and varied, the demo was there to show us the beauty of the worlds the slip space engine can create, the textures, lighting and visuals it can produce and for 343 to then dumb that down now or in the future due to not realising the scope of the game they were making in the first place sounds dumb to me?
they said its a idea with the engine/visuals but they made it crystal clear that things may change between the reveal and when they ship the game as for a downgrade I wouldn’t call it that
Anthem still is believable, nothing will ever beat the frost bite 3 engine at that even if they do downgraded .
I’d also go with what chimera said, devs do change things and sometime those changes end up effecting other aspects of the game resulting in your downgrades in other areas.
Furthermore devs show stuff built off a PC, so when it’s finally out and it comes to console, there WILL always be a downgrade as console and PC don’t compare when it comes to capabilities. PC is always used for advertising/marketing because of that . I’ve also came to expect that with literally every game that releases as not a single game game looks like it’s E3 showcase🤷
Finally I think tech is so far up that it already surpasses the standards as is, so I’m more of the mindset “so what of it’s a downgrade” as they still look beautiful in the end. I wish devs would ignore those wanting graphic improvements and look more into performance improvements as that’s what lacks in today’s games .

i think the trailers are always better looking than the in game graphics tbh

Yeah I’m definitely on the same page, small changes are fine but really just wondered about the big ones. Yes Anthem is still believable of course but they took out small effects which detract from the feeling of the scene when if they were left in you wouldn’t get any noticeable performance decrease. I know H6 is coming to PC and obv is being developed on PC but as Halo is primarily a console game for the most part don’t you think that what we saw in the demo is indicative of the console version? I’m just wondering, not being negative about any of this, I have high hopes for Infinite just thought I’d open conversation on the matter as huge downgrades are quite common nowadays.
The demo only demonstrates what the new engine is capable of on its first iteration. The is the first time a Halo game is developed with a whole new engine, so some changes will happen.
The old Halo engine had been stretched to its limit and couldnt carry forward to a new gen Halo game. Halo 5 suffered severely because it couldnt handle all the wishes. Halo 2 anniversary (multiplayer) on the X looks astonishing, and could be the closest to what we saw in the demo.
For the next xbox gen, the results will be way better and closer, to what the 1st iteration showed us. I doubt we’ll see big drastic changes but certainly some will come.
Being a whole new engine (I believe), I can definitely say the game visually will look stunning; but there will more than likely be many changes. However, if this engine is built to hold such a large environment, then perhaps we won’t lose too much…hopefully.

I agree. I played the Anthem free demo on the Xbox X, it was stunning to look at. I have no doubt Halo Infinite will be graphically amazing. I also updated my digital version of Recore at the weekend, it’s amazing to look at too, as is Wolfenstein Colossus and many others. So yes, tech is at that point where graphics are going to be good or generally more than acceptable, regardless of changes made imo.
Most definitely expect downgrades. They said the E3 trailer is what they’re aiming for in visuals, but I honestly can’t see how they’d be able to make a game that looked that good in 4k/60fps. Maybe on next gen consoles but as far as the current gen if it had those graphics I’d expect 1080p or dynamic 4k/30fps on the X and 1080p/30fps eith worse graphics on the S. Not to mention they’re also adding split screen, likely up to 4 players. I just can’t see it. PC obviously it would be possible.
E3 Trailers are very deceptive of what the final game will be. Some publishers might try their best to make the game look like what was originally shown but no guarantees.
