E3 Multiplayer Beta?

Now this is probably wishful thinking but Anybody think we could get a multiplayer reveal and a classic Phil Spencer "Halo Infinite, multiplayer beta - now available on Game Pass" this weekend? How excited would you be to get to play some multiplayer on Sunday - THIS WEEK!

With the game coming out in November (most likely - CE 20th anniversary and all that), realistically there is only 3-4 months left of possible development so a ‘release date’ of a flight test seems like it would be way too tight for the developers to actually make the improvements necessary from flight feedback.

Any thoughts?

If we don’t get it immediately following the show, I’d be willing to bet we at least get the beta’s start date and I can’t wait. You can look at all the gameplay videos and screenshots you want, but you won’t know how the game feels until it’s in your hands.

I’m really looking forward to the flighting of Infinite and I hope we get more news on this this coming weekend during E3 as we haven’t had an inside infinite since April and 343 has been pretty locked down in terms of news.

It has to be, right? There is barely enough time to make any meaningful changes after player’s feedback.
Assuming November 2021 release, of course.

It’s difficult for 343. There is going to be so much backlash from the ‘real’ fans who didn’t get the exact ‘Halo’ they wanted - how are they going to filter that noise for any meaningful change.

Feedback?

It’ll be for server tests and gross bugs only.

I agree, I’m pretty sure any betas or flights are strictly going to be stress tests and finding critical errors.

And I feel great about that to be honest. For a few years now, I’ve been saying that server stress is the most likely thing to derail a successful launch of Infinite. When you launch with successful infrastructure, you’re not fighting an uphill battle for players right out of the gates.

I’ve played so many variations on the Halo formula throughout the years, that I know the gameplay is going to be solid. I hope it’s borderline perfection, but I know it will be at least solid. So just give me a working game on launch for goodness sakes!

My opinion is probably just shell shock from MCC’s launch though

If that crazy son of a beautiful woman pulls that -Yoink- off, this will be the greatest June ever!

It would be awesome if after whatever E3 presentation they have they start an open beta for Infinite. I would like that very much. If they do want to do beta testing/ flighting with Infinite, they’d better start soon because as you’ve said there’s only a handfull of months left before this game is supposed to come out.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

I think Darwi makes a great point here. Considering the E-Sports aspect of the game they are likely going for, perhaps they HAVE all the feedback they want regarding balance and gunplay? So maybe this beta test will be more so a network / infrastructure test.

I wish 343 would cut it out with the whole eSports thing and do what the originals did: Build a fun game to play first and foremost for anybody and then let the super-competitive people build a community around it, instead of building the game from the ground up for the super-competitive people and turn everyone else off of the game.

I hope it’s not just a multiplayer beta, I’m hoping it’s like the mcc flights, a tiny piece of the campaign and a small slice of multiplayer.

so everyone can experience a bit of the game. not a fan of multiplayer only betas, epecially when there is singleplayer.

I’m hoping for a Flight release next week as I have the week off work just by chance.

However I’m a bit sceptical as to wether we will or not. I’d certainly like it but I’m not too convinced. Maybe in July or August if I had to guess.

I think they’re also wanting the game to be playable first for Halo Insiders - that’s always been 343i’s big push.

As for actual tuning of the game from a public play test. Beta’s are usually more for server stress tests and such. Gameplay tuning isn’t usually too affected by a beta. Though I suppose that depends how well it’s received.

There are images circulating online right now about a page on the Microsoft Store - without any reason to believe they’re real I’d take that with a grain of salt too.

Either way, we’ll see soon enough.
I don’t want to hype myself up for a beta that we may not even get at this moment.
