With E3 being less than two weeks away I would like to introduce a little fortune-teller game: Present and discuss your H5 predictions and let’s have a look who came closest to the truth afterwards.
The winner will earn the legendary status of Halo Waypoint’s Zoltar the Fortune Teller.
So here are my (not so spectacular) predictions:
Prediction 1: We’ll hear the words ‘epic’ ‘scale’ ‘scope’ and ‘drama’ quite often
From what little we know about H5’s other modes (especially campaign) it seems as though 343i’s focus is on delivering a greater sense of scale – which could mean a lot of things from larger maps, more enemies on screen, a more dynamic world or giant foes. I predict that this scale combined with hints at a dramatic and grim storyline will be the main selling-point for the campaign.
Prediction 2: The game won’t be in native 1080p
I predict that neither campaign nor MP modes will be in native 1080p. H5 has been advertised as 60fps from the beginning – with no word regarding the resolution. It’s pretty obvious for me that with all the things going on (see above) 1080p just won’t be possible – that however won’t stop some people from being utterly disappointed.
Prediction 3: MP-wise a new standalone mode(s) will be a huge focus of the conference and afterwards – we’ll hear very little about Arena mode (at least at the conference)
343i was very clear in their communication (‘Arena experience’, ‘Our Arena team’,…): What we played in the Beta is obviously just one part of the H5 MP suite. And while we have a pretty solid understanding of Arena 343i kept their cards close to their chests when it came to those other offerings which will remain a well-kept secret until E3. We only have a few hints such as ‘larger scale experience’ yet it’s safe to say that it will be much more than just a new mode for the existing MP-framework. It will be a new pillar, equal to that of the Arena suite, something we havn’t seen in a Halo game to date. As there won’t be much talk about classic experiences (Arena mode in general) I expect an outcry from certain parts of the community.
Prediction 4: There will be advanced Cloud compute / Xbox Live features
Titanfall won’t be the sole X1 game that pushes Xbox Live and Cloud compute features. If H5 uses those for physic calculations, advanced AI, connected war experiences or something completely different remains to be seen – but I’m firmly convinced that 343i as THE MS first party developer will push technology in such a key area. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if certain H5 modes won’t be playable offline as a consequence.
I think we’ll see Campaign with master chier and locke gameplay + a btb trailer and people will be able to play it in the stands
I really want them to show forge too …
I just need me some campaign, hopefully Halo 5 opens the E3 show, and hopefully a little news about Steven spielbergs series even though he is an executive producer has little to nothing to do with the production except name power

I am extremely confused on one thing, do not bash me please. Why would the game not be in 1080p? The only game in the master chief collection that does not output natively at 1080p is H2A. Can someone please explain what the OP meant?

No problem man.
There are a couple of reasons why I’m pretty sure that the game won’t be in 1080p.
Previous outcomes of other similar games - most of X1’s games do not support 1080p.
What little we know about H5: The Beta being in 720p (which makes a jump to 1080p unlikely), no word about resolution just 60 fps…
60 fps is quite taxing already - so if 343i chose to go with both 60fps AND 1080p there wouldn’t much juice left… and 343i needs those ressources for other things like better effects, more enemies on screen, larger scale battlefields etc.
Your comparison with the MCC is a little misleading - what you shouldn’t forget is that most of the effects in those games arn’t that taxing as those engines have been designed with previous gen in mind.
Of course there has been some polishing and upgrades and the games don’t take full advantage of X1’s architecture… but there is still a huge difference.
H5 will look fantastic - I just don’t think it will output in native 1080p.
