The Dynamo (Shock) Grenade is an interesting addition to Halo. I have no problems with it in most game modes, but it does not belong in Big Team Battle. It is too disruptive to vehicle gameplay.
They should either be removed from BTB entirely, or the duration that vehicles are disabled should be reduced. In their current state, Dynamo Grenades will disable vehicles for ~6 seconds and you can hold 2 of them at a time. They respawn so quickly on each map that it’s almost impossible to avoid them. The multiplayer maps are currently too small to justify them being in this game mode. If you throw a shock grenade at a vehicle, you practically guarantee that it will be destroyed. There is not a single weapon in the game that has this much stopping power for vehicles (With the possible exception of the SPNKR).
The reward is far too great for the lack of skill it takes to use them. They are an area-of-effect weapon, so vehicles will be disabled if they are anywhere within that radius (which is fairly large). In Halo Infinite the velocity of grenades is higher and they go much farther than in previous titles, greatly increasing the probability for vehicles to enter the AoE. Dynamo Grenades have a slight bounce and will briefly slide on the ground when thrown, and they remain active for a few seconds after making contact with the ground. With all of these variables put together, the Dynamo Grenade is the ultimate anti-vehicle weapon.
The Shock Rifle and Disruptor are a different story entirely. Both weapons require different levels of precision/accuracy and you need to place your shots for them to be effective. The Shock Rifle only takes 2 shots to disable a vehicle, but you need much tighter accuracy and it pulls you out of normal combat for a few seconds. It only has 4 shots before needing to be reloaded, and has a low rate of fire. The Disruptor takes about 6-7 shots to disable a vehicle, it only requires reasonable accuracy, and you are typically in the center of the action when used. It holds 10 rounds and has a higher rate of fire. The Shock Rife/Disruptor and the Dynamo Grenade are not alike by any means.
Something needs to change. I don’t mind the Dynamo Grenade being in the game at all, and I really enjoy using it in most situations. The problem is that vehicle gameplay comes to a complete halt when the shock grenade is involved. As far as vehicles are concerned - it is a power weapon. It requires minimal accuracy to use, they are easier to find/pick up on a map than a BR, the probability of being in the path of one is far too great, and the time which vehicles are disabled by just one grenade is outrageous (let alone 2, if not more). Once you ARE disabled, you might as well just set down your controller and wait to respawn.
I would recommend either greatly reducing the time vehicles are disabled by Dynamo Grenades, or removing them completely from BTB.
