Imagine, if you will, a game where players are rewarded for doing well in-game with the ability to Sprint.
Say two players come across each other. A firefight starts up, and one player is forced to retreat, having his shields completely depleted. Instead of pursuing, the would-be victor of the fight sits and waits for his fleeing opponent to reach a certain distance away from him… And when his enemy is far enough away, he is alerted by his HUD that he is now able to sprint after him, with his weapon up. (At the cost of reduced accuracy.)

I suppose I can’t really say anything in response. I like Sprint, I want it In Halo. I think the Halo: CE campaign would be fantastic with sprint and clamber.
Sounds like Kill streaks. I never will be a fan of rewarding success nor will I like rewarding failure either. As it is now, everyone has the same evasion and engagement abilities for the duration of a match, which is a good thing. If you fail to kill someone “because of sprint” it’s because they were within the range of evading, just like it’s been since ever and you can actually counter by engaging with use of sprint/slide/thruster or map positioning, again, just like it’s been since ever and just like it was in H1-3 where you would stay closer to cover and sigh run away when shot first.

You’re kidding me right? The psychological threat of no shields is enough to deter me from using sprint, so if I try to flee from a gunfight, 70% of the time I just get blown up by a grenade… or shot through walls because of bullet magnetism.

I’m surprised you put it at 70%. Seems like every time I spawn in this game Ive got 3 grenades at my feet.

It’s something that no-one else has suggested. I will admit I did think it resembled kill streaks, which I also dislike.

The other 30% I either win the gunfight against all odds, or die because Sprint is so hard to activate.
From what I understand you’re suggesting we give people the ability to sprint as some sort of Ordnance a la Halo 4?
Alright, I’m going to ignore the debates about Ordnance and present an alternative argument: What’s wrong with speed boost? Why does faster speed need to carry these random downsides like decreased accuracy, especially when that fast speed is being delivered in the form of a power up? You don’t see people trying to “balance” overshield by making jump height lower or hitboxes larger.
You’re basically just trying to find creative ways to shove the round peg into the square hole.

I had completely forgotten about Speed boost, because as far as I am aware, it’s only available via Ordnance in Halo 4, Warzone in Halo 5, and as a power-up on some maps in Halo 2: Anniversary. I’d be fine with Speed boost just being added to all of the maps… It needs a buff, though.
If you’re about to get wasted by your opponent, you have no business sprinting away. If you aren’t close enough to cover to boost/move to it, then why should you just be able to up and sprint away? That would turn Halo into a non-stop of shooting and sprinting away - Cat and Mouse style - making for much longer matches.
Don’t get caught out in the open and expect to be able to sprint out of it. Break line of sight, then sprint away.

I’m not sure who exactly you’re responding to. I did not say that the fleeing player in the OP was sprinting away, I didn’t intend for that to be the case.
Sorry, it was a pretty generalized response. I see no problem with sprint as I think (IMO) that it is well balanced and as such, there is no need for additional sprint ability rewards.
