Real Time Accidents:
You are driving a warthog through an open field. 2 pelicans collide. Weapons fall from the sky along with bodies. People rush to the center of the crash where a Spartan Laser Brute Shot Portable Turret is inside one of the Pelicans.
(Would only happen in some outdoor matches and would not be at a set time during match)
Earthquakes:
You are driving through the ruins of a city. Earthquakes. Buildings fall. Holes in ground. Would change the whole map.
Maps Flooding:
In an underwater building. Many floors. Slowly floods. Work to the top and continue to fight.
-
Destruction:
Use a rocket hog to blow out the ground under the enemy base causing it to go in an underground cavern. The impact of the base hitting the bottom of the cavern would cause the other base to fall in as well.
Usual:
Blow up buildings.
Blow up collapse cliffs.
Make holes in ground with grenades.
Knock over trees
Cause avalanches.
Any suggestions?
As long as there is a map option to turn them off then I be fine with it. What if your making a machinima and you just want a normal civilian map, be a shame if 2 random pelicans just blew up. Other then that I wouldn’t mind and there should be some gametype where its disabled.
Yes of course those would be fine!
Even though I am all for dynamic maps, I don’t know if I really agree with this idea. You see, one of the biggest complaints regarding Halo 4 was the unpredictable nature of it. Adding other unpredictable elements that can affect the outcome of the game (weapon drops, for example), aren’t really optimal in Halo games at all.
However, other more natural elements, like earthquakes and floods as well as player-induced map destruction would be fantastic! As long as they don’t ruin any major map flow and are predictable, then why not? Halo has been known for its great dynamic maps in Halo 2 and, to a lesser extent, Halo 3. I would love to see such an element return in future games.
Or you could, i don’t know play battlefield.
I really like the idea of changing maps, but only if they are player-induced, e.g. Zanzibar, or on a set timer. Otherwise, it’s no less detrimental to competitive gameplay than Random Ordnance.
Random stuff happening sounds cool until the tenth time it happens–then, it’s just repetitive. We are not yet to the point where we can program enough random events for it to remain immersive and “cool” past six hours of gameplay.
It would be cool, but That seems more like stuff that would happen in campaign. Things that are more player driven would be cool. Like bullet holes in Walls, and if you ram a pelican into a base It would crumble and make holes. But this has to be enabled/ disabled.
Love it but hopefully Halo 5 has water based maps since love to use some of the original Halo 1 boats that I heard about in the concept art, also love the idea of destructible environments.
Pelicans crashing randomly… nah, players driving pelicans crashed into each other and cargo falls out… yea!
I like dynamic maps…IF…events are player driven
ORRR, if they occur at beggening/end of the game
Does this also go for lighting or is that in the Map construction?
I guess events being player driven Would Be fun.
