On the map The Rig, there’s an easter egg of essentially a giant worm coming out of the ground and destroying another rig in the distance (It was in the Halo 5 stats page, IIRC. Can’t link because mobile)
Apparently, it’s a reference to something called ‘Dune’, but I’m interested as to whether these creatures are very much canon inhabitants of whatever planet The Rig is set on (Meridian, I believe. Could be wrong)
Thoughts?
Dune is an old 80’s sci-fi movie.
Probably not, just like the cavemen in H3
Dune is an old film from the 80’s (another 1984 film, truly was a great year for films <3). The easter egg is just a nod towards that as the artist loved to draw Dune inspired works [there is a post / tweet / reddit post about this somewhere, but for the life of me I can’t find it right now]. Don’t know about it being canon, think it’s just something for a bit of fun, but you never know

Ah, thanks.
I hope it becomes canon in some way. Or at least referenced/hinted at like A Fistful of Arrows.
I dont see why the worm couldn’t be canon. Giant space worms are a staple of sci-fi due to Dune, which is/was also a famous novel series in addition to movies.
Halo already had the no!Rancor in Reach.
i think they would be canon i mean theres plenty of alien creatures out in space
