During the Forerunner-Flood, why didnt the Forerunner uses alcohol weapons since the flood are virus right?
why didnt they, they should be using that to win anyway.
what do you guys think about this?
Alcohol probably wouldn’t work well against them, it would be like using alcohol tipped bullets against zombies, hardlight was probably the best they could do especially if it was hotter than plasma which would melt flesh

Alcohol? Like flame based or like… bacteria killing alcohol. Well simply think of the flood not as a virus really. Its a parasite that attaches itself to the hosts nervous system and manipulates the cells to “grow” its own biomatter. The flood is literally a failed preservation of an advanced species. Its more than a virus, its cells that spread its DNA to other cells (like cancer). So alcohol won’t simply stop it because the cells membranes are more than just a layer of proteins. Its like rubbing alcohol on a tumor or your own skin, it won’t do anything. You need to remove it or destroy the tumor and frankly the flood is similar to that at the cellular level.
Bacteria killing Alcohol type. I think they already can make alcohol squirting weapons, and some alcohol squirting weapon which shoots really far. the ones with the 100% alcohol contains hahehaehahehahehaehaha. like that

i thought alcohol can kill parasites.

Alcohol can only be used to kill a blood-born parasite.

The flood isn’t necessarily a virus but a parasite that requires a host, think of dead space necromorphs but without the marker and majorly different kill spots, as for the hardlight part in pretty sure it’s hardened energy concentrated which would most likely burn their target but I could be wrong, where as alcohol wouldn’t really work, it would add nothing to the projectile, the only why it could work effectively is if you throw alcohol on the flood and light them since they are not a bacteria or virus but a hivemind parasite
If the Flood breathe (I have no idea), and you had enough alcohol you could drown them in it. Otherwise like others have said, it would have no effect.

When the flood infect someone all of their memories are taken by the flood, so if a marine gets infected the flood learn how to operate their weaponry and the things they’ve learned in their life, another thing that brought down the forerunners was the previous Human/forerunner war and the forerunner a.i. mendicant bias betraying the forerunners after being influenced by the flood during the forerunner/flood war
In the halo animated shows, it appeared the warriors didn’t have energy shielding to prevent infections.

The Forerunners’ armor could erase any biological material in the Forerunner’s body that they didn’t want there (even the changes to cells that come from the natural aging process, making them functionally immortal), and it still wasn’t enough to stop the Flood. The battle between the Flood converting them into biomass, and the armor trying to turn that biomass back into themselves, completely destroyed their bodies to the point where when the Flood finally won, the bodies were just piles of biomass, not useful as combat forms, but still useful as spore pods, or as material for Pure Forms.
