Duck Hunt/Flood Hunt

Does anyone remember the Custom Games gametype/map variant from Halo 3 called Duck Hunt? It was based on the map Foundry, and you’d have one guy sitting in a box with a Sniper, while the rest of the players would have to sprint through what is basically an obstacle course without being killed in order to get to a teleporter that would take them to the box the sniper is in so that they can kill him.

I’m wondering if this is possible with Halo 4. Even if the targets would play as Flood, it would still be possible for a gametype like this to be created, correct? It could be called something along the lines of “Flood Hunt.”

Just an idea. If it doesn’t exist, I might have to start working on a map, and gametype for it. I miss it in Halo 3.

It’s a great idea. I think I’ve seen it in Halo 4. I have yet to play it, but it’s really fun. ;D

This sounds familiar. I’m pretty sure I saw a RoosterTeeth game night video featuring this exact thing. I’ll check their YouTube account when I get home. Maybe we can pull the gametype and map via Waypoint File Browser.

That’s exactly how you’d build it, actually.

Since Reach, there’s been a bug in how Infection/Flood handles gametypes with lives: the round doesn’t end if all zombies/Flood die. Accordingly, Duck Hunt has to be built “backwards,” with a single survivor hunting zombie/flood “ducks,” so that if the hunter dies, the round ends properly. The popular “Halo on Halo” mini-game has the same issue (and workaround).

The new limits that Halo 4 adds to Flood customization aren’t a major problem for Duck Hunt. I believe if you disable ability usage for Flood, then you’ll get traditional (albeit non-sprinting) ducks.

Duck Hunt, Fat Kid, Chameleon, Mexican run! You name it, I know it. I’ve been playing customs since halo 3 and loved them to death.

Moving onto your issue. The game type would be easily possible even with the current flood capabilities. I do have my own game type that would help you with any difficulties that come your way but, unfortunately i can only give you this game type if you are in the same lobby as me. This is because the file browser doesn’t “like” it. If you want the game type just send a message over Xbox Live to Zeamaphobick.

I also looked up Duck Hunt on the file browser and there is a lot of versions of Duck Hunt. I’m not saying any of them are good but there are a couple good ones out there. I would like to see some good remakes myself. Could you do a fellow custom game player a favor and make some of the forgotten ones?

As others have listed…
there are numerous copies…
