Dual wielding was a lot of fun, but they removed it from Halo 4 because they wanted things to be skill based. So why not bring it back as support package for Halo 5? If the smg returns this would be a lot of fun. Now, I know some of you will beat down the smg because of the assault rifle, lets look at it like this.
Smg can have less damage but more range compensation, that’s the way it was in ODST.

No you got it all wrong. You could only dual wield certain weapons in Halo 2-3.
Dual wield options for Halo 5 would be:
Pistol
Plasma Pistol
Boltshot
Smg if included
suppressor
Boltshot wont be a problem if its nerfed, and suppressor wont either cause in the old halo games dual wielding two smgs caused your aim to fly up, throwing your aim off. So they should add it to the suppressor.

Still no. Two Magnums would be more powerful than the DMR. And just the thought of two Boltshots. >.<
It wouldn’t work in this sandbox, maybe the next game.
The problem with dual wielding in Halo in general is that it’s not really clear how weapons together work. A player who doesn’t know the ins and outs of the game would assume “Well, I have this SMG, and now I have another, twice the power!”, but that’s actually wrong. When dual wielding each weapon actually did 75% normal damage.
Dual Wielding generally decreases the power and accuracy of the weapons because it takes more skill to wield it that way.
That being said, dual boltshots would work only if you reticle flew into the sky everytime you shot a charged shot, and that a charged shot lasted half as long, but could only take down the shields if you hit with one charged shot. Note this is only in dw mode, not when using a single boltshot.
But then we have the dreaded plasma pistol and magnum combo so who cares xD
I doubt dual wielding would work with the current sandbox, but I would like to see classic arena shooter dual wielding make it into the next Halo. What I mean by that is that certain secondary weapons, such as the pistol or SMG, can be doubled up if you ran across another one. It would be a small upgrade to your secondary weapon, and it should be much easier to balance in the sandbox since there would be nothing like pistol and plasma pistol combos.
As much as I want it back, the current sidearms are too powerful to be dual wielded. I’m hoping Halo 5 will have at least two more sidearms (maybe even the return of the plasma rifle in a less accurate and less damage, while it’s like an opposite SMG where it drains shielding incredibly quickly, but takes forever to finish off the health. As well as a needle pistol. It’s like the rifle, but it just has less accuracy and a smaller clip) and the current sidearms are nerfed a bit.
i love the idea but
the SMG is gone
pistol is now scoped
no plasma rifle, replaced with storm rifle
and needlers cant be duel weilded since halo 3 as its a power weapon
you would be extremely limited on what you could duel weild
