Dual Wielding? Can it please come back?

title says all

If it can’t be balanced in MP, put it in SP (campaign)

I miss it as well, but it makes weapons like the SMG very weak alone. There could be a way though.

Dual Wielding was awesome and I don’t get why people are against it.

Yeah I also liked Dual Wielding in H2 and H3 and would be nice to have it back. However I think the simple reason it won’t is that for this they would have to nerf the damage for those weapons (e.g SMG) in order to keep them from becoming OP while dual wielded, but that would make wielding one too weak at the same time and nobody would use them.

absolutely NOT! Its destroys the weapon sandbox by nerfing half the weapons into oblivion.

^^^^ Agreed. Also the reason why H2/3 competitive is just BR/Snipe/Rockets. Every weapon is diluted.

Remember how in Halo 2 and 3 you could pick up any weapon and still get kills equally easy? Me neither. Dual Wielding made H2 and H3 into a one gun game dominated by the BR. By including dual wielding in H5 means that the smg, pistol, and other assorted weapons become basically useless on their own. Picking up two weapons always seemed like a hassle and not worth giving up grenades. I’m glad it’s gone.

Duel wielding is fun. I agree.

I’m fine with ADS, but we should be cool with Dual Wielding first before we move to something as controversial as ADS. The lack of ADS is what made Halo unique.

> I’m not saying get rid of ADS. I’m just saying if you are all cool with ADS, why not be cool with Dual Wielding.

No, and here is why:

  • In order to make it a viable option to allow duel wielding, they would need to have them on par (only when in a pair) to that of normal weapons.
  • They would have to add a multitude of new weapons to the map, cluttering the map.
  • The weapons that are already holding their own that would be used as a duel wield would in turn have to be toned down. I.e. SMG, Pistol, Plasma Pistol, etc.
  • This would be just be unnecessary, especially when they use the pistol and SMG in breakouts starts. I’m sorry, but as much as it was cool back when Halo 2 came out, the necessity to do so in Halo 5, wouldn’t be worth it. Not many people would use it, due to it being inferior to Battle Rifles, assault rifles, etc that are 2 hand weapons.

Just not going to happen bro.

Why not make it so that SMGs do the same damage they currently do when single weilded, and when dual wielded rather than doing 2x damage, they only do 1.1x damage? So that way its not too buffed or too nerfed. It only helps a little bit.

The problem with that is twofold. One, it makes no sense, and two, it means nobody would bother with a second weapon. Why have 10% extra gun damage when you can’t melee, grenade and such? Those are much more versatile weapons.
All in all, DW is cool, but inherently shallow. You lose more than you gain. That goes for having it in the game and using it too.

I would be fine with it as long as dual wielders get grenades taken away, or take longer to melee an enemy…or some kind of “Punishment”

This guy responded with exactly what I would have said already. It’s just not plausible, even if you made it 1.5, it wouldn’t be worth it. You can’t grenade, or melee, plus you can’t switch weapons quick enough. What is the point? There is none. I’m sorry, but duel wielding is no longer necessary, it was more of a gimmicky addition before anyway. Not many people want to use it now.

What I think 343 could do, is make a legendary version of the SMG that you would could only pick up the set of SMGS. It would give you a fresh weapon, that dual wielded, but were tied together, so you wouldn’t mix and match them. You would still be able to Smart Scope with them, but perhaps the spray of the guns would be more significant, or the recoil of them would be very drastic in Smart Scoping.

I don’t think that Dual wielding has a place in Halo any longer, not without screwing over weapons that should be just fine on their own. With that said, a legendary version of a SMG set that looked like Halo 2-3 SMGS that were always tied together would be a great nod to the old ways of playing the game.

so long as the left trigger shoots the left gun, and the right trigger shoots the right gun.

And you can reload each gun seperately.

how about no

Don’t see dual-wielding work in Halo 5

No

It was a terrible addition. It crippled H2 and H3’s weapon sandboxes.

Where’s grenade and/or zoom in that control scheme? That’s the problem I had with Salvanous’ solution…back when it was my solution. xD
