Dual Wielding and Promethean Weapons

If Dual Wielding makes a comeback (I hope they do, put in a game type toggle in MP) So with Promethean weapons which ones should be dual wielding.
Currently on the list we got

  • Boltshot - Supressor - Scattershot - Light Rifle - Binary Rifle - Incinerator CannonNow of course some things like the Incinerator Cannon and Light Rifle should not be dual wielding, this is just the list.

For me the Boltshot is a absolute yes while the Suppressor is firmly on the maybe.

Who doesn’t like dual-wielding weapons? I mean hearing 2 SMG’S oing off at THE SAME TIME is great, right? But when it comes to dual-wielding suppressors (which are a tad longer than SMG’s) doesn’t seem that realistic anymore cause when you put together the recoil then the length of the gun, it just doesn’t seem that realistic to hold 2 of them with handles like THOSE. But boltshots dual-wielded is a great idea though.

Maybe that is something to be done with playing as a Promethean Knight since they are known to be carrying two weapons in each arm.

As far as Spartans/Elites and any other playable character, I believe the only Promethean weapon currently out that should be dual wieldable is the Boltshot.

I highly agree, though playing as a promethean knight does sound kinda cool. Especially if you can teleport behind your target and scattershot them from there. Hehehe <laughs menacingly>

I’m not that worried if dual welding comes back or not, but if it did the boltshot is the only promethian weapon that fits the list

Nothin personnel, kid.
It would be cool if dual wielding came back for small weapons, it was kind of a symbol in Halo 2 and slightly less in Halo 3. Granted, I don’t want it to be broken but I’d love it to be in especially in campaign. I think the suppressor could also work if they made a smaller version. Right now it’s not very powerful with a high spread so it’s a good candidate, but it’s way too big to fit two on screen.

Yeah I’m with you, boltshot and suppressor.

Even if it isn’t in Multiplayer due to balancing, I would love for it to be in Campaign and Custom Games.

Boltshot and Suppressor would be fine for duel-wielding, as it’s a parallel of Magnums and SMGs. If the Suppressors look a little funny, their models can be altered a bit.

I have to agree with many that if there will be dual-wielding in Infinite then considering promethean weapon variants, boltshot would be a given but there really aren’t other weapons in that class that would make sense to dual wield as they are, sure you could fire 2 assault rifle class weapons from the hip but it just doesn’t really make sense + it would be weird to have heavier weapon that is around as powerful/accurate as handheld weapon given if they would be dual-wielded they would need to be balanced.

Suppressors are far too big clumps of metal so I would rather see a bit of buff to them with decreased bullet magnetism rather than sudden scaling down in size with less adjustments. Currently suppressor is next to nothing when there are other weapons available (in campaign modes) even though any weapon is fine enough for me when it has ammunition, any weapon is better than empty one unless there are other bonuses like bruteshots melee bonus which only makes it debatable when to drop it.

But this topic really clearly shows how promethean weapons could use more variation to them, currently they don’t really add anything in form of gameplay given they function pretty much like many other weapon variants, so to stay on this topic, handheld promethean weapon variants could be added as long as they bring some variation as long as they are not just there to pretty much replace some UNSC counterpart.

I don’t think dual wielding will come back but imagine how crazy would be to dual wield an Incineration cannon lol.
The suppressor and Boltshot are the only weapons capable of that, but I hope 343 adds a new arsenal in this game specially the universally requested needle shotgun.

Those seem to be the only two weapons that one could realistically dual-wield without looking like General Grievous from Star Wars.

I understand this is a thoroughly unpopular opinion, but I don’t personally care to see dual wielding return even on the weapons it was possible to dual wield in Halo 2-3. It’s not particularly difficult to point to weapon balancing problems that were caused or exaggerated by the mechanic, and if it were added to the more complicated weapon sandbox today, balancing it would be a nightmare. That’s not even to mention the endless additional headache balancing it on top of and in conjunction to any sort of advanced movement mechanics implemented in Infinite.

I understand the logic behind the argument that a toggle addresses the fact that dual wielding is broken from a competitive perspective, but I’d counter with saying that 343i really ought to strive to keep the online community for Infinite consolidated into a single camp of game mechanics for the longevity of the game’s online scene and the solidity of its identity in the series.

I’m not saying I’ll hate it if it returns, I’m just pointing out that I can certainly see it bringing a lot of problems with it if it does.

Who here misses dual wielding the brute spikers in H3? I for one loved doing that

If duel-wielding does return alongside the Prometheans, their weapons would need to be redesigned. The Halo 4 Boltshot would need to return as the Halo 5 version is far from suitable for a duel-wielding weapon, and the Surpressor would have to be replaced in a similar fashion to how the AR from Halo CE was replaced by the SMG in Halo 2.

Well the H4 one would be better since H5 was designed for Req packs to include attachments and even rare variants that are just better in every thing (not pay2win at all).

As for suppressor I think everyone agrees it should be two handed and the only way to dual wield them is playing as a Promethean Knight.
