Whenever people make lists of “notable” aspects of each Halo game, dual-wielding always comes up (specifically for Halo 2). Just what is so great about it? People have been requesting it return since Halo Reach, but why? As far as I can tell, it just seems like a visually-appealing way to buff small arms weapons. Is there just something I’m not getting?

I can’t tell you how many “skilled” players I’ve pissed off on The Pit, Guardian, Epitaph, Isolation, and Snowbound by using SMG/Plasma Rifle or Plasma Pistol/SMG. 2 guns will beat a rifle when it’s close quarters and you know what you’re doing. It was a game changers in Halo 2, Halo 3 it was still a pretty big deal, from Reach onward, the game changer became armor abilities and sprint
