Halo’s campaigns have always been about Master Chief’s story, but withODST and Reach, we sorta grew to like the Rookie and Noble 6 because they were that kind of silent protagonist that you could think of as yourself.
In the next Halo game, I think it’d be cool if the campaign included a subplot based around a Spartan IV team with your multiplayer Spartan where you could customize the appearance like in Reach. Levels could alternate between Chief and the Spartan, and the purpose of the Spartan is to assist the Chief indirectly, like disabling an enemy machine so the Chief can proceed in his mission. I really think this could add a new level of immersion in gameplay.
Sounds good, but they should be doing more than just support Chief behind the scenes. I think that plotline would get old fast.

Sounds like a good idea. I’d like to add something extra to this. What about instead of controlling each character for seperate missions, how about some missions they fight together but perform different roles, but you get to pick which role you control.
For example, Chief and the Spartan IV are in a firefight together and Chief needs some cover while he moves forward. You then get the choice of controlling either:
a) - the Spartan IV and defending a AI controlled Chief as he closes on on the enemy.
b) - controlling chief and moving forward, while the AI controls the Spartan IV and defends you.
I think this could be a pretty good concept and would mix up campaign missions, increase replayability and prevent them becoming stale. Achievements could also be unlocked, depending on whichever option(s) you chose throughout the entire campaign.

I’m open to this, as long as it’s not a plot-changing mechanic.
Why not play as the enemy? What if we were an elite, fighting for Jul M’dama and working to kill the chief/destroy the infinity… encountering each other throughout the campaign?
I really like the concept. Playing as two protagonists throughout the same narrative is one of the reasons that I enjoyed Halo 2 so much.
I’m surprised the OP didn’t mention Halo 2 of all games with duel plots/protagonist.
I think it would be an interesting perspective to take for Halo to take again. As much as people like the Master Chief, Halo games shouldn’t revolve around his events, but those of the people and races apart of the same universe.
One of the best things I liked about Halo 2 is that you played the story from 2 different perspectives. At the time, and even as you replay it, its so interesting to see how “the other half operates” - like watching the Chief get a medal and watching the Arbiter get stripped of his rank.
ODST did do this same concept pretty well be being in each ODST’s shoes after they dropped in on New Mombasa. ODST did bring up an interesting mechaninc of having players discover the missions instead of your average linear progression. This opened up the sandbox for exploration and giving the players a choice as to what they want to do is great.
To the OP, I like your idea though, a subplot for the players multiplayer avatar would be cool, additionally I think it would be better if players could chose the way in which they respond or handle situations.

I would like to have it where you can be in Arbiter’s group like in Halo 2 going back and fourth between the MC and him, but your idea is great and would add more to the story. It could potentially explain more on Jul 'Mdama’s story and why he hates Humanity so much. (for people who don’t why he doesn’t like Humanity)
