I forgot to make a topic about this last flight but I’m doing it now. When I played the last flight with bots and used the drop shield for the most part it’s a nice solid piece of equipment. But I feel like the deployment time should be slightly reduced by maybe 800 milliseconds or 1 second. When ever I deployed it I would still be killed. I feel like with the base dropshield if I deploy it mid fight I’m expecting to lose the gunfight and it also takes a bit of time for it to activate. I think a solid 800 millisecond reduction to deploy time would be a nice change. What does everyone else think?
I think they have reduced the time a bit, but I don’t know how much.
> SANDBOX TEAM RESPONSE:
> One consistent piece of feedback we saw around equipment was that many players felt the Drop Wall wasn’t effective enough given its current tuning. The intent behind this delay was to make it a piece of equipment that we use proactively when preparing for engagements, rather than reactive once a fight has already broken out. We also didn’t want to make it too durable, causing players to always win when they used a Drop Wall in a fight. It’s meant to cause a slight “wrinkle” in the fight, not manufacture a full stop in the combat loop.

> That said, we have reduced the Drop Wall’s deployment time. We’re taking a closer look at the durability, but want to assess how the faster deployment impacts gameplay before committing to increasing the health of its panels just yet. This update should be reflected in the next flight, so please keep an eye out for it and let us know what you think.

Thank you for that I never saw this response!
I think they’re being too hasty with balance decisions. the drop shield felt like it deployed too slowly because infinite’s first radar didnt show walking enemies, which meant players were often caught by surprise and used it reactively. with the classic radar returning players can use it more pre-emptively as intended.
It did feel almost laggy when throwing it out in the first flight, however with 2 uses, and more instant deployment it may be quite powerful equipment. Didnt even feel worth picking up to me in the flight how it was, but I’m also aware we don’t want it to be overpowered.
