I’m not sure if this was intentional or not. But apparently with the introduction of the drop weapon nerf, dropping the flag or the ball has also been slowed down. This basically means flag juggling isn’t possible anymore.
Seriously? What the actual F? I understand trying to fix an issue that’s never been an issue before because of a new mechanic you’ve added, but how does 343i not have the basic thought of “will placing a timer on how frequently you can drop and pick up stuff cause any issues with objectives?”? I had that exact thought as soon as they mentioned doing this, but I figured it was fine because I still had 1% of confidence in 343i. HAD being the important word there. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame me, beat me to near death before stealing my car and then purposely driving it into a ravine, well then F me I guess I was asking for it. That’s it I’m done I’ve got no hope or confidence anymore. Congratulations 343i you did it.
Submit a bug report then I guess @Little_Squash
343 is “aware and looking into it”

I don’t really know what to say at this point. I don’t even get upset anymore. I’m just apathetic to it all, which is probably worse because it likely means I’ve stopped caring.
I’ve filed so many bug reports over the past year. Always with the same reply… “Thank you for your ticket. At this time, we don’t have a workaround and can’t predict when there might be a resolution…” And there never is a resolution. I’ve given up trying to file support tickets because I’ve noticed that the only times anything is actually dealt with is if a streamer or pro player tweets about it.
You think they’ll fix it before Charlotte this weekend?
It’s doubtful that they can fix it that fast without just reverting the drop weapon nerf. So, It will be interesting to see what they decide to do. Which is more important to them? Drop weapon nerf or flag juggling?
Maybe they’ll just not play CTF?
Let me guess, some higher ups and management are responsible for this too. Not the mediocre coding staff. /sarcasm
It’s just another great example how EVERY department at 343 screwed up this game.
Starting at the game design department (no, we don’t need a progression system, forced global matchmaking is a great idea, Nobody wants Team Slayer or infection), going over to UI/UX (let’s spice things up and add 3 additional steps to mute ingame players, lets put the most common needed control settings in the middle/at the end of the list, let’s mute players by default), to actual coding (yeah… about that desync and crashes…) and in the end QA (weapon drop should have been removed back before the release… but I guess noone tested it).
I doubt it because it also affects the time it takes to drop the skull in Oddball making it more difficult to drop it and defend yourself. So they would almost have to eliminate everything but slayer… Now that I think of it, there would probably be lots of people that would be totally fine with that.
Drop weapon should never have been nerfed to begin with it was something everyone could do if they took the time to practice it. Throwing down a weapon should be faster then swapping so this was truly a non issue to begin with silly they even messed with it
I honestly thought they patched it out a while ago, so when I finally got an Elite II recently, I didn’t even bother mapping it to a paddle.
It was one of the reasons I initially wanted the controller in the first place too.
I don’t really have an opinion on whether drop weapon should have been nerfed. From 343’s explanation, it seems like it had basically become the meta in pro play and 343 doesn’t like that.
What concerns me more about this issue is that:
- Fixing it, broke other stuff. (Not the first time 343 has done this.)
And
- 343 is making changes to the entire game based on a very small subset of players. (Also, not the first time 343 has done this.)
Do people actually use drop weapon to juggle flag?? Switch weapon works just fine. Juggled flag and ball a ton yesterday, literally no different than pre-update.
Same this is what i do. I didnt play a CTF yesterday - will keep an eye out for this today.
This is pretty much me and the majority of my friends. We all started with Halo CE or 2, so we are long time fans and this debacle of a mess of a Halo game has pretty much made us all stop playing (still no ranked team Slayer playlist and it’s over a year old now. Top three most popular playlists in any Halo game since ranked Team Slayer has existed and it’s not in… Great job 343I
) and it sucks because all of us like the game play in Halo Infinite too. We also like the art style, equipment being back, The look of zoom(not this ADS style looking garbage!! That covers up 3/4 of your target) amongst other things.
It’s really sad what halos become ![]()
Same here my plan was weapon drop on the back. I like the back paddles but dang it took a while to get used too. the triggers and stick settings alone on this controller make it worth it alone
Let me guess, some higher ups and management are responsible for this too. Not the mediocre coding staff. /sarcasm
Someone in the multiplayer design team probably decided this and some other people there agreed on this one, then they told the coders to apply this change to the game.
Management is not just the CEO, but also the team leads and heads of the different departments. The coders are just people doing their 9-5 job, applying what their higher-ups tell them to do.
At least the top management got a shift now and the new people now have to clean up the whole mess, with the current situation it will probably take a few more months until we see the ship turning
Mh, this is an… unfortunate side effect.
I hope they fix this.
Played 5 or 6 ranked matches but not one was CTF. Still waiting to see.
What do you have mapped to the paddles?
I have crouch, ping, scan and jump.
I’ve got zoom, crouch, sprint, and use equipment.
Bumpers and triggers are; jump, shoot, 'nade, and melee.
So I can do all those things without taking my thumbs off the sticks!
