Drop in/out, trueskill, and Penalties

Some people want drop in/drop out matchmaking, some people don’t. Some people want social or ranked playlists, some don’t. Some people want cR or Halo 3 ranking system, some don’t. ITT I’m doing to discuss how can have the ranklied and social playlists with everything I mentioned above.

Social
-Drop in/out matchmaking
-No trueskill ranking(duh)
-You quit, the game you quit counts as a loss

Ranked
-Ordinary Matchmaking
-Trueskill ranking(duh)
-You quit, the game you quit counts as a loss and you lose one trueskill level

Both
-All playlists will have its own rank such as Halo 3 and you get cR, like Reach, for your overall rank and/or in-game cash for armor and what not
-All playlists(mainly ranked though)have teams match with teams and 1s or 2s match with 1s or 2s.

Ranking System
Ranked and Social playlists

I am open for anymore suggestions that could make ranked and social more enjoyable.

> have teams match with teams and 1s or 2s match with 1s or 2s.

Everything seem awesome and i agree except i don’t understand what you mean in the quote above.

Full parties match with full parties; randoms match with randoms

I think social should be replaced with a custom game browser, and all playlists should be ranked.

By ranked, I mean trueskill is strictly enforced and parties are matched with parties. Don’t really care if the trueskill value is actually shown to you or not.

This actually sounds reasonable. Well done!

Thank you!

Added references to help you understand this. Thanks Costa.

I like this

Even if they did add drop in drop out in MM in Halo 4, it wouldn’t work.

Look at Reach custom games. When someone joins mid-game in any game type, it lags everything, chooses a new host, resets all weapons & vehicles, and sometimes even kills people and spawns them outside of the map.

Trust me, with over 5000 Halo 3 and Reach custom games under my belt, I’ve come to see this as the norm because of Halo’s net code.

You should be able to toggle if you want to drop in/out or not. The people that don’t mind it can love on it all they want, but to the ones that want a fresh match it would be a kick in the teeth. Quitting running rampant by people that want a fresh match and have a chance of winning. Drop in/out system mandatory, fine… but then there should be no penalty for quitting cause it’s gonna happen.

One level from every single quit sounds a little bit harsh. Why not just count it as a loss? It’s really the only reasonable thing to do. Punishing player with loss of a whole, hard earned level doesn’t really sound right to me. Loss on the other hand, sounds pretty good thinking that quit basically means a loss.

Oh, and if there was to be drop in/drop out in social, I’d rather have it optional. I’m personally not a fan of joining a losing team.

Yeah, and if we’re losing levels because we quit, then it’s not trueskill. It’s truestick-to-it-ness (I love making up words :D)
