Drop In, Drop Out

Does anyone else get into a matched game of ranked multiplayer just to have someone quit the game early and ruin the whole game for everyone else? Halo 5 has this problem. I’ve been on the losing and winning side of this, but not allowing players to drop into an already started game is a mistake. Halo 4 allowed drip in play, and I nearly never had an issue with it.

Guidelines. Don’t drop in a player with 2-3 minutes left in a game or with only 10-15 kills left for the winning team.

Have limitations, but when players quit within 1 minute of a game starting, it usually ruins the game for that team. Or I feel like I’ll be banned if I quit to help out a team because I’m having an off game and am playing poorly.

I have also been banned once awhile back because my internet quit on me and apparently that was 1 too many times to leave a game.

JIP and it saves social games that would normally be extremely one sided. Also h5 has addressed most of what you’ve mentioned on BTB and WZ.

JIP?

And I realise that social playlists allow drop in with Halo 5. My problem is the map selection with Quick play is only 3 and there is no SWAT playlist in social.

I haven’t touch WarZone since a few months after the game released. And I don’t like forged maps so BTB doesn’t do anything for me.

Join in Progress

Nope, don’t like JIP for ranked play. I’d rather not join in when my team is already at a disadvantage (score-wise and map-wise). If anything, Halo 5 does it correctly, leaving it to Social and WZ. I def wouldn’t mind Halo Infinite to allow something like League of Legend’s drop in/out for Ranked. Often times, people lag out causing them to leave the game. It’d be great if once a player leaves, the only way to get back in to playing Ranked would be to rejoin the game they left. If the match ends and they never rejoined, THEN assume the usual (or harsher) penalties for leaving the game.

I get the feeling there are a lot of people who share your opinion. And I would be fine playing social playlists. EXCEPT, the map Rotation on social Slayer is next to none and there isn’t a social SWAT playlist at all in Halo 5. This need to be different for Infinite.

And I want a rank I care about. Aka. one that doesn’t just reset every couple months.

Pray that 343i implements good playlists for the next title then. Halo 5 is already over 3yrs old, so population is thin. Creating more playlists like the ones you want would just divide the players further. If Social SWAT isn’t as (or more) popular than the current Social offerings, I wouldn’t ever expect to see it this late in the game.

> The problem with JiP for ranked is that people will quit when their team is losing, not winning. This means that anyone who comes into the match will be starting off on the losing side, which will just hurt their rank. And if you say that those people who JiP shouldn’t have that match count towards their rank, then what’s stopping them from simply throwing the match for everyone else?

I think this should sum up why JiP isn’t good.

You say everyone hated it. I did not. And those few situations that weren’t ideal were still way better than constantly fighting a broken system of people quitting and having no real reason not to.
