Please don’t tell me this is true. Does this mean people can join half way through a game? It would suck to have a different team than what you did at the start. So my question is, are they putting this in?
It’s true, I’m under the impression that the join games in progress system will be in all playlists. But don’t take my word for it I could be wrong… do some research.
I’m glad for one. No more of having 6 of the players drop out of big team battle because one person did during the pre match set up. Most likely it was added because this will help to keep people in the game- they’ll know additional players can join in to even the sides.
OP, did you enjoy 8vs2 BTB games?
If implemented right it could work just fine…

Its to make sure the player count stays more even.
Some games you end up 2v4. This will make sure it is around 4v4 most of the time. I just hope its an option.
I don’t mind too much for either system, I do admit I enjoy starting the match at the beginning, it keeps up some anticipation and lets you know what your up against. But the only disadvantage to this of course is people quitting just because one person on their team quit/lagged. So it will help in that aspect.
Maybe they could make it a search preference? Choose whether you would prefer a lobby or to join an in-progress game. Or they could disable join in progress for lobbys of more than 3 players, since i’m sure they would prefer to face other teams on equal terms from the beginning.
Another simple one is to bring in two different playlists, similar to social and ranked, and go the GOW way and have ranked with lobbys and social with join in session. Though this can separate the community quite badly.
It’s to hopefully deal with the ridiculous amount of quitters.
i hope that people constantly joining games i’m in doesn’t put me on blackscreen for half the game, i also hope that quitting doesn’t completely screw over the true skill system since join in progress causes habbitual quitting a lot.

when a game ends you have to wait regardless, you have to wait for more people to join the lobby, vote for another map and wait for the game to start.

The matchmaking and searching isn’t different you still have to wait and vote. This is how it works for halo, player choice for map and game.

Yeah, so lets wait some more. It doesn’t matter.
Instead of loading a new map after a round is over, just go back to a useless menu, where you have to search for new players. Lets add 30 seconds of waiting, so players can see who they are up against. And lets add 60 seconds to give each player enough time to choose which map they want to play, because that is really important and all.
What’s wrong with random map cycles and matches where players can join and leave continuously. It worked with Gears of War 1, 2 and 3.
