Drivers who just got their learner's permit

For the love of God, why do you guys do this?

The game starts and you jump into the warthog. You then proceed to sit there in the driver’s seat honking your little horn and sometimes even driving back and forth to display your anxiousness.

After a minute or so, someone on the team (me in this example) thinks, “fine, I’ll be your gunner. Let’s do this!” So I jump in and you take off like a bat out of hell.

Now, you would think a driver would be thinking of you in the gunner seat, right?..Riiiiiight? The answer is NO!.

What happens nine times out of ten? The driver attempts to splatter the first person he see running across his line of sight and fails so miserably that he gets both of us killed.

Someone please explain to me why in the hell drivers will sit in the base honking their horns, nudging their teammates to the point of breaking shields, trying desperately to get someone to gun for him; only he, the driver doesn’t care at all nor does he pay attention to what the gunner is shooting at when the action starts? Why do these special drivers always try to splatter opponents getting us both killed in five seconds or less when the driver put so much work into convincing a teammate to jump in with him?

IT MAKES NO SENSE!

p.s. I’m not upset. I’m just opening this for discussion and threw a little fun into into.

I feel like its a better alternative than taking the warthog without a gunner, because someone will complain about not waiting for people to get into the warthog.

Because he is new to the game/driving?

We all have to start somewhere. Instead of complaining, invite the guy to a chat, help him out.

Badmagik it’s the same thing with helicopter or tank drivers in battlefield. There are just people who behave like this. Either ride with your friends, don’t ride at all or help them out. We’ve played BF3 together, you know this.

There is a thread titled “should reckless drivers be critisized?” Why not voice your concern by replying to that original post instead of flooding the forums with the same topic?

^^ This

I’m a decent driver and I honk my horn.

It’s a case of “hey guy who just spawned, want to run out into the open and die, or do you want to get into my vehicle and do some good for the team?”

So your argument works both ways.

I’ve found out the Warthog can be used as excellent portable cover on Ragnarok. Park it near the base of the hill and use it as an unexpected line-of-sight blocker. Just don’t stand close enough to the Hog that you die when it explodes, because it also makes a great decoy. You would be surprised at how many people will run out in the open and expose themselves just to EMP an empty Warthog.

I usually find this to be more effective strategy on Ragnarok than honking the horn and giving the other team a free plasma powered double kill.

My favorite is they are honking the horn, I jump in and they drive us off the cliff. Lulz.

They should make a mandatory 5 minute tutorial on how to drive the warthog correctly in war games for halo 5 if he/she doesn’t have any previous Halo games listed on account.

If I’m driving a hog and honking the horn and you get in the gunner…you’re doing it wrong.

Side seat sword is the only way to go people.

Haha! I’ve been that driver before! I’ve also been that passenger before. I think I did it most in Halo Reach on Blood Gulch. Driving off that one cliff at Red base. Mostly I did it to my friends though. lol

You have to remember not to text while driving your Warthog.

You should go to Battlefield and witness the piloting “skills” people with fully loaded helicopters show off. Newbie Warthog drivers can be a bit irritating sometimes, but they don’t fly themselves and 5 other people into a mountainside 20 meters from takeoff.

Me and my bro get in a warthog together all the time, we work as a team when we do that. Most people in this game don’t have mics and therefore cant communicate and it makes it harder on the driver. Although in most situations the driver is just stupid and doesn’t get the idea. Also with plasma pistols being in the loadout, vehicles have become useless.

I had a guy drive me off a cliff the other day. When he got into his next warthog I shot him with the concussion rifle a few times and he splattered three teammates.

He got the boot. Such justice =D

That is just the worst thing ever.

In part, you could also blame Plasma Pistol/Sticky starts. Driving is not as… easy… as it was in previous Halo games.

You’d think Elite Big Team Slayer in Halo Reach would have shown 343i why spawning with PPs and Sticks is bad for vehicles.

> My favorite is they are honking the horn, I jump in and they drive us off the cliff. Lulz.

So true.

It is also like they are telling us “Let’s go on an epic run together…”

20 seconds later…

Why?

Such justice indeed.
