Drive-able Pelicans, Phantoms, Scarabs,etc...

What do you think

If we get 64 player gametypes then I’m all for Pelicans and Phantoms.

I’m not too sure about Scarabs though, it would be something cool but I dunno, maybe for campaign I guess.

Pelicans would be cool to use in standard Slayer games as a way to ‘Drop off’ your team then followed by the countdown to start the match.

Pelicans and Phantoms using the same ‘Drop off’ feature would be cool also if Invasion returned.

Scarab’s wouldn’t work because they’re living infantry units, not vehicles.

Even if they didn’t implement them in multiplayer, I would like to see Pelicans, Mammoths, etc in Forge, just to screw around with, make machinima and stuff.

Define vehicle.

But besides that, I think I understand what you mean, however, I think a “stationary” scarab could work for game modes like invasion. Imagine it… spartans are dropped off by pelicans and have to capture the Checkpoints (like invasion), by the time the spartans reach the 2nd to-last set of checkpoints a scarab is deployed. Its movements are A.I controlled within a set path, and elite players can control its weapons (plasma turrets and the large cannon on top of it, just like a normal vehicle). It could work, it just needs to be balanced enough to give spartans a chance to reach their objective.

Then please explain to me how was Sgt. Johnson able to control one in the last level of Halo 2?

Because he is Sgt. Johnson. Jk, I know scarabs need forms of control.

I actually fantasized about pelicans and phantoms in Halo Custom edition.
If multiplayer expanded to at least 32 players, then objective drop off would be sweet.
There could also be an option of sacrificing half your carry space to bring a warthog, or a ghost or two along. Good for team deployments.

Scarabs from halo 2 are Manually operated by drivers and gunners, while Scarabs in Reach, and Halo 3 are controlled by Lekgolo worms (the same worms that make up Hunters)

I still remember smaller Scarabs to have some sort of command screen to order the lekgolo to do something specific.

I honestly wasn’t all that impressed with flying a pelican in Halo 4 or that easter egg in Reach. I still dont understand why so many people want to. I’d rather have a space battle with Sabres instead.

As for Scarabs. That my dear friend is what we call a plot hole. There can be ‘drivers’ to navigate it, but the the scarab itself is controlled by the Lekgolo. In Halo 2, they were just machines, the idea behind them being controlled by Lekgolo wasn’t brought to light until Halo 3. This is proven by when you kill all the enforcements on the scarab in Halo 3, the scarabs are still mobile.

It would def work for an invasion type game, why did they get rid of that game type in the first place? But there has to be ways for your team to get around it, maybe like tunnels or something, or really good defensive spots where you can take cover and fire on the thing.

I have a question… Have you ever played Halo Wars or Halo: Spartan Assault?

Scarabs or even Locusts would be awesome objective drops. A pelican could drop off a squad for Invasion.

Battlefield’s Armored Kill mechanics would fit this well.

However, it would be cool to have a gametype that opens up like Titanfall or Crysis 3’s Hunter mode where we start in a dropship.

And if Invasion returns, the ability to summon a drop ship for protection by performing some method (or if the dropship you need to bring the core to acted hostile to the defending team.)

How about if you’re an Elite you get dropped from orbit, kinda of like the Elite-Coffins in Halo 2. Maybe S-IVs too, since I’m sure most were ODST.

Scarabs would be too big and too powerful.

I suggest putting in the Locust from Halo Wars instead. It would be balanced, fit on majority of maps (any map that a Mantis can be on, a Locust could essentially be on), and essentially give that driveable Scarab in Multiplayer a lot of people have been asking for.

scarabs can be driven even though they’re technically a mount. That could be cool, since then it could have little movements during idle animations. I really hope 343 can commit to making a truly epic scale kind of multiplayer for Halo 5, and epic vehicles like that could be part of it.

who cares about the logic, do you want it or not

Then they should revert to the Halo 2 Scarab.

The Halo 3 Scarab was not fun to fight. It was too small, there was a lack of roaming space, the enemy forces defending it were meager. And it’s AI wasn’t so great. The AA turret were especially annoying.

Whereas the Halo 2 Scarab featured plenty of space, wave battles, was guarded by an Ultra Elite, and could be commandeered (if only it’s AA gun was usable). Much more epic.

The only problem I have with using Dropships in Multiplayer is the massive risk that the player takes when entering one. With a destroyable dropship that can house a dozen men, you’ll find that when the enemy team destroys that one Pelican that is loaded with troops, it’s not going to be a pretty sight.

Overall, with the risks involved and playing such a huge role, the player’s incentive to grab their teammates and fly around in a Pelican would decrease drastically. It would ultimately be a neglected vehicle.

However, just because it wouldn’t be wise to fly Pelicans/Phantoms in Matchmaking, that doesn’t mean that we should not have the option to have them. If the player wants to have Pelicans in Custom Games, then there is NO REASON that justifies them not being able to do so.
