if you could pick the cast to play the characters in a halo movie who would it be
Well, obviously Ron Perlman for Hood, yeah. And shame on you, Mike Colter is Locke. He’s his voice, the character model is him, and he played him in Halo: Nightfall. Similarly, I know Nathan Fillion’s a little old, but I still think he’d put in the effort and be the best Buck.
I don’t have any particular opinions on most of these, but a few notes. I could easily see John, in Halo films, still being voiced by Steve Downes. If they maintained that we never see the character out of armour, there would be a body actor – and so all you really need is someone quite tall to do that.
Actually, there is one casting thought I’ve had that I can’t shake. Idris Elba would make a great Forthencho, if ever that character was made use of in a Halo movie. On the flip, though, his usage is quite minor in his only appearance (Primordium), so I doubt we’d see a big name actor in that role.

I get what you are saying about Buck and Locke and I agree I can’t see anyone play Locke other than Mike Colter same with bucks actor but when I chose those actors I thought they would be good substitutes for the original actors and on 117 if they made a movie were it take place in one of the book like fall of reach or first strike some of the places and missions he gose on in thoses books he dose not wear his armor

Actually, Locke was voiced by Ike Amadi in Halo 5. So Mike Colter didn’t always play Locke.
I think Steve Downes should be the voice for Chief again. Someone else can actually play Chief, sorta like Darth Vader. For Cortana, it might as well be Jen Taylor, her original voice actor. Cortana would need to be CGI/Motion Capture anyways as she is an A.i., so getting her Original voice actor would be perfect. Thats all i can think of right now.

I love Idris Elba as an actor but in the halo 4 terminals forthencho is depicted as a white guy

Huh. So it was. Worth noting that they picked a sound-alike to replace his voice due to a scheduling conflict (he was playing Luke Cage at the time).

In Primordium he’s described as dark-skinned. He’s got a mix of dry wit and unassailable, proud posture. Idris Elba is who came to mind when I pictured the character on my reread of the novel.
