Has anyone noticed that her voice changed immensely between H4 and H5? The timeline is only an 8 month difference…why does she sound so old and frail? Did she take up smoking? Or join a heavy metal band? Anyone?

Probably alcoholism. I imagine that the Covenant are quite stinky and stressful to live with. Would drive anyone to drink.

I did not notice much of a difference. Jen Taylor might have taken some time to grow into the character, or perhaps it’s a deliberate acting choice. After all, she lost her arm and now there’s no one she truly trusts, except from John. Maybe Taylor wanted to give the character more gravity by taking that into account when delivering her lines.
I’ll give it more attention next time I play the campaign.

That’s a good point. Definitely give it a listen and prove I’m not nuts haha
Didnt notice, but: it could be the director told her for h4 to sound like old cortana, since cortana is based on Halsey… Then h5 told to be darker and gravely, since she had a rough 8mo. Halsey isn’t going to be around much longer.
I haven’t noticed the change yet (it’s been a while since I played H4 and I haven’t delved into playing H5’s campaign yet), but I will say that my issue with Halsey’s voice overall is that it sounds painfully obvious that a younger voice actress is trying to sound like an older woman. It’s just…jarring, and doesn’t feel right to me.
Possibly the stress of everthing she went through is affecting her body. I wouldn’t be surprised if she fell ill and died pretty soon.
I sorta noticed it but didn’t give it much thought.

Probably auto tune/voice editing. Jen Taylor was voice acting in RWBY at the same time as Halo 5
