Why is she so infatuated with the Master Chief?
Is it possibly her son or something?
Chief is just her favorite Spartan. He was always the one to show the most potential according to her.
I HIGHLY doubt it. It’s because he’s lucky, got great leadership skills, and just all around badass. Apparently, he’s also quite attractive.

It would make sense and explain why Master Chief and Cortana are so close. Isn’t Cortana from Halsey’s DNA?

John isn’t related to Halsey in any way, he has his own parents and lived on the world of Eridanus II and taken by ONI at the age of 6 to become a Spartan. Halsey selected him based on genetic criteria, a process all the Spartans were selected under.
Cortana was created from the cloned brain of Dr. Halsey. The way AIs are made is that brains from dead people who donated their brains are scanned and that makes an AI. Not sure on the full process itself and how exactly it works though. Difference with Cortana is that she was made from a living brain, technically illegal, but well worth the risk.

I never bothered or even have the desire to read the Halo novels. Have good handful but for whatever reason the desire is just not there for me.
This factor is why I feel the Halo 4 campaign is a failure. The storyline of the game really demands and expects you to know all the backstory.
When the Halo 4 villain came out everyone was calling him by name like they knew him.
I was like wtf? Did I miss something? Did I skip a chapter in the game? Not to mention the campaign is like a low and mere 5 hours long. Poorly done.
343i really failed so bad with the campaign. Shame too because the game looks pretty, sound is fantastic. But if a person has problems following the story its a failure. That is my humble opinion.
Halsey will prob just take her “baby” spartans and just go and start a insurrection again.
