Saw this video and found it quite interesting: video.
According to this it appears Dr. Halsey will be back in some form.
Also, when he makes the reference to Roland Huffman, read the comments. One of the top comments is some guy talking about Jun’s age and relations to Dr. Halsey, and it makes quite a bit of sense that Huffman could be Jun. Thoughts?
Here is what that comment said:
It could very easily be jun based on the fact that we never really see him “DIE”. However in reach Jun is 28 years old and halo 4 is based eight years after reach meaning that jun would be 36 in halo 4.He was last seen boarding a Pelican to escort Dr. Halsey away from Sword Base.
Roland Huffman was active during (2548 - 2573)
Jun was active in 2552.
More proof that it could be Jun.
Interesting, probably not true though. Why would Jun change his name to Roland? Besides, the last time I checked, Jun wasn’t Caucasian.
And i just replied to that message:
That’s… no.
First off, Roland there clearly doesn’t have any asian features, while Jun does. Secondly, if that was retconned to be him, and that would be pretty stupid if that did happen, why is he going by the name of Roland Huffman, and what is he doing serving as a regular grunt in the Army?
There’s no proof whatsoever in what you’re saying.
Not only has Frankie said that they have NO PLANS to do anything with Jun, there’s no logical way for him to have survived the battle of Reach.
The Autumn was the only off-planet exfiltration vehicle on the continent, at that time Jun was travelling in the complete opposite direction to CASTLE Base to escort Halsey there. Jun is not present with her when Red Team reach her, and he does not leave the planet with everyone else when John arrives in the Ascendant Justice.
Jun is dead. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would even want to have such a horrific, sterile character return at all.

Not doubting anything, but where did you hear that he didn’t leave with everyone else? Was it said somewhere?
Also I love how much hate Jun gets. I understand Kat for having horrific AI and being a jerk sometimes but I didn’t think Jun was all that bad. Sure I got annoyed at his random screams in Nightfall that happened for no apparent reason, but he wasn’t all bad.

Jun’s not dead, 343i just doesn’t have any plans to continue his story right now. They’ve already stated he doesn’t die, and his absence at CASTLE could be due to any number of reasons. Perhaps the Pelican was shot and he fell out. Perhaps it went like in Fistful Of Arrows. We don’t know. More to point, you don’t know that the Autumn was the only ride off the planet. Nothing’s certain.

Except I’m not talking about his AI, I’m talking about his character - he didn’t do anything in the game, he may as well have not been in it because he had absolutely zero influence on what can laughably be called the ‘story’ of Reach.

They haven’t said he’s not dead, nor have they said he is dead. While he remains in canonical limbo, all canonical evidence points to him being DEAD - and rightly so, again I haven’t a clue why anyone would want this pointless, bland archetype alive.
Also, Auntie Dot’s dialogue:

^^This. It’s all in the books, people. And of all the legendary spartans from Halo lore why bring back a character with the personality of a brick? Um, Linda? Kelly? Fred? Legends. Hell, I’d even take Kurt over Jun and I hate Kurt!
I’m annoyed that they haven’t settled this yet. This character has just disappeared. There’s no evidence that he died, no evidence he’s survived.
Apparently he just disappeared after the events of Reach because Halsey doesn’t seem to remember him.
I tried doing some research because I swore she referenced him in Glasslands but I couldn’t find anything. Now I’m just frustrated.
Also Jun isn’t Asian. He has a Russian accent for Christ’s sake.

Key word being “on the continent”, as in on the ground. Jun could’ve taken the Pelican once he dropped Halsey off at CASTLE and headed up to space to dock with a UNSC ship that was also getting the hell out of there. Long shot with all the Covenant craft up there, but hey. Or Dot might not’ve had full information due to all the chaos, and so there could’ve been another ride off the planet somewhere nearby.

She briefly (in a single sentence) recalls Noble team ‘helping’ her on Reach, nothing specific beyond that IIRC.
I’d be happy if 343i just came out and said he died, finally bring closure to such a dull part of the lore…
Jun is dead. He’s as dead as the other Spartans of Noble Team. 343 confirmed back in August of 2011 that he would not return for the Reclaimer Trilogy.
It’s higly unlikely that the “Roland” in the script is Roland Huffman. Cool as it would be, “Roland” is likely a last name in this case, as all the other characters on the script are called by their last names.

You do know that CASTLE Base is on the continent, right? You get a map of the continent with the LE of Reach and it shows the locations of Aszod, SWORD Base and CASTLE Base.
Enough with what ‘may’ be the case, we know that it isn’t. An armada of Covenant ships were looming over the continent and obviously they’d have deployed anti-aircraft batteries to prevent escape from the planet.
Stop with the wishful thinking, please…
> Also Jun isn’t Asian. He has a Russian accent for Christ’s sake.
The two aren’t mutually exclusive, you realize? Heard of asians with american accents? Africans with french accents?
Jun’s got a slavic accent, yes. He was born on the same planet Kat was. Doesn’t mean his actual heritage is slavic. The dude’s clearly got asian features, and that’s what i was referring to. Accent’s got nothing to do with how you look, it’s just the way you’re taught to pronounce words.

I’m aware of where it is. I fail to see your point.
So? Is it so impossible to imagine that Jun holed up somewhere, just as the S-II’s did in CASTLE? If there were so many anti-air batteries nearby that Jun couldn’t fly somewhere else, how did they even make it to CASTLE?
You’re not forced to respond to me, nor are you providing any proof or even good reason for why he woudn’t survive. I’ll continue with my thinking, thank you.
Jun is dead according to books at last
Emile and him was one of the worst spartans in Halo

- Jun isn’t even canon
- Jun is dead, read fistfull of arrows.
There was a character called Roland in the story Headhunters which was part of Halo: Evlutions (can’t remember if it was I or II) but if I remember correctly he died. Any chance it’s the same guy?
> read fistfull of arrows.
Fistful of Arrows isn’t canon, it’s just a fan creation.

This is highly unlikely. By the time Jun and Halsey would have arrived at Castle Base, the UNSC fleet was all but obliterated. Hell, Carter, Emile, and Noble 6 had a hard enough time moving around on the ground. Imagine trying to escape into space with more than 300 ships hunting down any remnant of the UNSC.
By 2610, there were no records of Jun’s survival. He’s dead, mate.
> 1. Jun isn’t even canon

- Yes he his.
- Fistful of Arrows is a fan-comic, and non-canon.
