Downloading File Share Films to PC

This post may have been ages ago, but if not;
Does anyone know if 343 plans to introduce downloading films from File Share like Bungie had?

It was the most awesome thing for people who didn’t want to get capture cards but wanted to show off clips to their friends without going through the hassle of downloading it on their xbox.

And while we’re at it, why did they not include that?

They have no plans to do so :confused:

To the best of my knowledge (and I make no guarantee that it’s correct – I welcome any corrections that anyone may have), the situation is as follows:

To implement their film rendering service, Bungie had to create a heavily-modified version of Halo 3 that could run on a server and spit its graphics output into a video file. I actually recall a Bungie Weekly Update or two mentioning bugfixes (i.e. reticles not displaying properly) – implementing the service definitely wasn’t a simple task.

Apparently, when control of the Halo franchise was transferred from Bungie to 343i, Bungie wasn’t required to hand over their rendering tech. This means that 343i would have to build brand new tech from scratch to provide us with a render service.

Fair enough, but surely 343 could manage that, they do have Microsoft at their disposal afterall

I don’t have any inside knowledge, but my guess is that Microsoft needs to use their resources on their own projects. I don’t think 343i can just call them up and borrow some programmers; every group has to pull their own weight with the resources that are immediately available to them. :\
