I just can’t figure out how to download custom maps…if it’s even possible. I know File share is broken (bloody shame), but is there any other way to get another player’s map on my box? If not, I don’t even get the point of 343 showcasing custom maps on their blog…
Press “Start” -> Go to “File Browser” -> Select “Map Variants” -> Select “File share Search” -> Enter
That should work. It sucks but that’s all we have for now.
Do note that if the same GT has a game variant you don’t have to enter it again in the File Share Search. It’s automatically saved for your convenience.
Just follow the steps above. I have downloaded several maps and gametypes already this way.
A File share fix is on the way but there is no news on when that will occur.
Thanks for the reply, but what you suggest gives the “no files found” anyway.
My suggestion:
-
Go to forgehub, look for the map you want to download, look for the gamertag of the creator
-
Send a friend request to the creator
-
Click at his profile while you are in Halo 4 menu.
-
Click on his filesharing → map variants → select map → press Y → download it
As far as I am concerned, this is the only way you can do it atm.

Did you enter the Gamertag correctly? If you didn’t, nothing will show up.
Also if you used the other one, custom file search (something like that), you’ll get nothing. That’s what happens when i use it anyways.
Just figured out I need to enter the gamertag…

Great suggestion, I totally forgot about forgehub, though it’s a pity they only featured one Halo 4 map until now. There is this thread though:
Is there a thread on this forum which compiles some good maps and gametypes and their authors GT’s?
Not sure but you can always try Youtube and the THC forums (if you are into competitive maps).
the gamer tag:
Forge Map Pack
has 20ish maps.

If you have time, take a look at the complete thread, not all are mentioned in the “share-your-completed-halo-4-maps-here”.
UNSC Felix Hulk made some really nice maps f.e.:
