Doubles Strategy - thoughts?

I completely forgot about the strategy of getting a small lead and hiding. Ran into it last night. We got matched up against a team doing it for 3 straight games. All 3 games timed out. One game was only a 14-7 score!

I can sorta respect the strategy, but man is it boring. Curious what others think. Would Doubles be better if it were more fast paced and forced action somehow? I think older games had 2v2 KotH and oddball. I wish Halo 5 had that.

What’s the point of doing this? The whole point is to have fun, this doesn’t sound fun at all. It sounds like a cheap strategy to win, putting the other team at a disadvantage because they can’t find you. Doubles are supposed to be competitive this however is not.

I do this but me and my friend don’t hide off the map like every other scumbag. There are some spots on maps that you can do it, most notably this one on Eden.

It’s sort of fun to see just how dumb the enemy team is but when you hide off the map there is no fun. You have to be obvious for it to work imo

Once me and friend decided we would camp in one place the whole game after I got first kill thinking it was funny… we must have been there for only like 2 minutes and got so bored and just continued to play as normal. I can’t see how people do that the whole game.

Honestly they should just use the HCS radar/no radar for doubles to prevent the campers from hiding and knowing where the team is when they move in on your position. I think it would play a lot better, people might still camp but it would be that much more difficult to do so.

I disagree. No radar actually makes it harder to find them. With my post the spot on Eden is only apparent when walking from the Blue Platform. I was found in that spot because I was shooting to be annoying. Without a radar, they could not find me. Radar doesn’t matter, if someone hides they would not be able to be seen anyway.

The removal of the radar means that you’re less prepared for confrontations, therefore you have to rely on listening and callouts more often. And don’t get me started on the shielding; it’ll be a rage-inducing nightmare.

Actually that description might work but normally hiders find you and then get a kill and leave to a weird spot on the map

I still thinking adding in Oddball or KotH or something to make players move around a bit for Doubles would be fun. Keep slayer in too, but a nice mix of 3 gametypes.

We dropped down to their level that night (the 14-7) game. The score was 1-0 4min into the game. I don’t know how they could possibly do that every game, just sitting there.

As someone who tends to be a liability in action based play with tough opponents, I can mitigate a lot by NOT dying and attacking strategically especially when partnered with a kill gobbling tank. If I come out and try to havk and slay my kill deficit makes my partner want to nail me with plasma grenades to save the other team the trouble. Its conservative but its how I am most efficient at earning pos kda.
