Doubles Has the Actual Worst Teammates Imaginable

I knew this was gonna happen :^)

Newer Halo titles are filled with players who has not been playing with a team mindset. They always rush, they always go for multikills and kill streaks like it’s a CoD or Apex.

Only players who have stuck with Halo a long time truly understand the importance of sticking together and outgunning opposition because of how durable players are. What’s 1 gun vs 2 guns?

Everyone pretends they are some montage maker on YouTube but they don’t realise montage makers are all using power weapons or combos to get quick kills.

the maps arent built for 2v2. Halo 3 supported doubles better because the maps where more open and players could teamwork better. Doubles should be removed and have it made properly with forge maps.

worst matchmaking of all the game modes

I think it’s because the maps have alot of LoS breaks, so in theory, it should support splitting up much better since you are safer from cross-map interference. The thing here is people not understanding the value of sticking as a duo or rotating as individuals.

But yes, H3 undeniably has more Doubles support because some maps were modified or expanded on specifically for Doubles mode. 343 needs to do the same if they want the same sort of Doubles quality.

They’re mnk players huh

some are yeah, but just in general all my halo friends either stayed with MCC or stopped playing halo altogether, nobody likes Infinite

As a rule in a mode such as this you should always stick to your teammate. If your teammate tends to want to wander off just follow them and support them instead. That may mean sacrificing item spawns on occasion, but usually that’s not a problem at least in my case.

Haha, Bazaar is bizarre. Nice.

Or get a friend you can control.

Holy crap, 5 games? If it was so many of just the one type, I’d probably throw the game, too, to make it end quicker.

It shouldn’t even let people enter that playlist solo. Its fun with a friend tho. I just got ranked in, in it. The only downsides I’ve been experiencing are that i couldnt finish my 10 matches with my first team mate because he had 2 matches ahead of me and once he was ranked it no longer let us team up. So I had to finish 2 matches with another friend who hadnt played any matches, and now that dude has 8 matches he needs to find someone else unranked to play with.

Same thing in cross play. I need 3 games to rank in but almost none of my friends are unranked. Going in as a solo player is just always a terrible experience for me so I just stopped.

The sword is game breaking on all maps its on for doubles, and weapons like rockets on streets at that respawn rate is just terrible. It just feels like the game mode wasn’t tested. Not sure how anyone could have possibly thought that respawn rate to be the best. Its like they just decided to half everything and let it be played that way, including respawn timers (i think its half of the normal).

To find team mates, people should open the official LFG and look there. I used to do that for 4s when I had no one to play with. Its a very easy and fast way to find like minded players that match your demeanor, and most importantly…have a mic they use.

I wish they’d go back to the doubles they had for Halo 4 (I didn’t play 5 so I don’t know the specifics of it)

But in 4 they had very specific and controlled power weapon placement. It wasn’t some crazy strong weapons spawning every minute, it was a solid skill-rewarding power weapon like the Railgun and a Sniper.

Infinite has a solid weapon sandbox that would reward placing mid-power weapons instead of the actual power weapons everywhere. The skewer is stupid, make it a sniper or shock rifle. The sword is stupid, make it a bulldog or heatwave. Or mix it up more and put a hydra or ravager where the sword is. That gives you a powerful melee range option without it being a one hit kill instead, and it provides other uses in a teamshot. Ravager might actually be overpowered in Doubles, I haven’t tried it. It’s ridiculous on a good host though.

2s in 5 was insane man. Huge competitive following that lasted up to its last days. You can search 2sday matches to see some of the best skill showcases of h5 from LVTs 2s tournaments. Exciting and fun to watch. I think the playlist itself in the game…might have had some issues too though.

H5 had 2v2, and doubles as 2 separate playlists where 1 used the 4s maps and the other had some forged maps within it. One kepts i think the radar and slayer starts while the other played like an hcs match I think.

However, I don’t think it ran into the same types if issues infinite did with how power weapons and power ups respawned so fast. I played 4 but I think all I played was team slayer. 5 was a very good multiplayer game when everything got fixed. It’s sad it had the bad launch, had its ranking system busted, and of course…the community has always been on opposite sides of the fence over gameplay.

After all is said and done…it’s just pitiful to have some of these super obvious issues in the newest game…when there’s SO MUCH reference material of past games to fine tune to see what works, doesn’t work and what improvements can be made to any given playlist.

I’ll explain why power weapons spawning fast is good for doubles. Doubles has a history of teams camping in certain spots(especially if they got the lead). If power weapons like rockets are coming up people are more inclined to move. If you need to worry about os every minute you can’t simply afford to stay up tower and snipe.

We can’t ignore that some of these weapons actually ENCOURAGE camping though right?..people camp more when they’re holding the power items, and control the power items more when the power items are already in their hand readily to put the other 2 on respawn before said items come up…because…you know…power weapons are a HUGE advantage…(controling them is part of the game, them being on such a fast respawn is simply bad design though. )

Vs

Actually having to outskill and outsmart the other 2 players while both teams of players are trying to play for the power items. Hardly happens when the dang things come up so fast and one teams basically got everlasting swords.

Not sure if you’re trying to say its a positive thing to have the timer that fast, but if you are…I think you’re the only person I’ve heard say that.

Consider that basically every player on the map can have a sword all at once…and that’s enough to see the problem. I mean what is this castle wars?

The point you’re trying to make is pretty much what any halo player already knows. Its not bad to have power items in doubles. (Everyone knows to go for rockets…camo…etc…if they dont…well 343 made sure even new players now have a huge beacon on the map with an actual countdown so they do know…)Its the rate at which they come up thats the issue, what type of weapons, and map layout with said items and respawn rates causing the huge issue.

Imho, they were lazy and just cut everything in half and called it a day. If it was deliberate design to discourage camping?..and its doing the EXACT opposite?..then we got some geniuses at work here…

Then again…considering the dmr is now called “the bandit rifle” (woooo! How cool right?) With iron sights on it…and you scope in and it doesn’t use the iron sight?..I’m not at ALL surprised man haha

It doesn’t really influence camping in either direction. People will just camp with the sword and ignore future swords regardless, if that’s how they like to play.

The only thing that is happening now with the frequent power weapon spawns is that everyone in the match winds up with a sword at least once a game lol

Were you playing ranked doubles? There’s an unranked social doubles playlist as well. I completed the ult challenge in the unranked mode. I think ranked doubles is slayer only. team doubles has CTF on catalyst and bazaar.

I tried it in both and the weekly only works in the social playlist unfortunately. We are required to suffer

Get a teammate to play with and maybe consider some anger management therapy,

The issue here is the god awful matchmaking system and not the teammates itself.
You don’t need to be a e-sports pro player but if you’re doing damage and scoring points in the quickplay list on a regular basis the game will just pair you with a person who goes 0.5 kdr every match and doesn’t do anything towards the objectives either. In most cases you’d be better off with a real bot.

Luckily I will never play the doubles playlist again because it’s so stupid because of the matchmaking system. Only played it because of the challenge.

Nobody plays this game.

It was social, no worries…. I know my skill level, or lack therof, in doubles so I didn’t want to piss off my unlucky team mates…
